Oh boy. This story ranks pretty high on the list of things you couldn’t possibly make up. Over the holiday weekend, two women started a fight at America’s Best Value Inn in Marquette, Michigan. The fight apparently started over use of the waffle maker at the complimentary breakfast buffet, and it eventually led to 30 people being kicked out of the hotel.
Via mlive.com:
Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole said it allegedly all started over the hotel’s waffle maker around 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 24.
“It sounded like one lady walked up and asked the other lady if she was in line for the waffle maker. She didn’t answer, so this lady started to make her waffle. The other confronted her and said, ‘That was my waffle’ and the other lady said, ‘No, it’s mine’ and then it went down hill from there,” Cole said.
Deputies were dispatched to the hotel and found “a large group of people arguing over the waffle maker,” he said.
“The property manager asked that everyone be kicked out of the hotel. All parties involved were ordered to collect their items and they left,” Cole said.
Stay classy out there, folks!
Hilarious.
BTW the hotel is in Pere Marquette, which is in lower MI.
Marquette, MI is in the upper peninsula.
I don't like those type of waffle makers. No one ever knows how to properly use them anyway.
It was a white trash buffet, and they weren't referring to the food...
Two things you don't mess around with: weaves and waffles
"Complimentary Deluxe Continental Breakfast, on-site * McDonald's, across the street"
Classy joints attract classy people. I guess the deluxe part is the waffle maker...

"The 30 or so people who were ordered to leave are from Chicago and Canton, Mich., Cole said." Chicago I can kind of understand, but Canton MI? Are people so stressed out in Canton that they would blow up over a waffle?
Lego my Eggo!
shit hotel shit people
@Lucky - I'm afraid your love for American has gone 'too far'. I believe the hotel involved was 'Americas Best Value Inn' [sic] and not American's ;-)
@ Charlie -- Whoopsies!
Is it a coincidence I've only noticed those waffle makers at lower-end hotels? I suppose RI isn't "low-end" per say, but as a general rule, it holds true for my experiences.
I was out in MD in early April, and there was this woman who monopolized TWO waffle makers for 20 minutes. Granted, the first 3 was spent figuring out why it was beeping so loud and then another 1-2mins wondering why the beeping changed...

In short, I can TOTALLY believe that happened.
Yup!!! Only in 'merica!!! (Or at least the classy middle bit!!!)
