Amex Centurion Lounge Tokyo Haneda Airport Opening 2025

Amex Centurion Lounge Tokyo Haneda Airport Opening 2025

16

Another location has just been announced for the Amex Centurion Lounge network, and it’ll be the first one in Japan (thanks to Cole for flagging this)…

Details of the new Amex Centurion Lounge Tokyo Haneda

A new Amex Centurion Lounge is expected to open at Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) in 2025. The lounge will be located in Terminal 3, which is the primary international terminal at the airport. The catch is that the lounge will be on the small side, as it will be just 683 square meters (7,352 square feet), with seating for 122 people.

There’s not much information about what exactly the Centurion Lounge Haneda will offer, though it’s stated that the lounge will have “designs that incorporate Japanese traditions, artisan culture, and art, and will also offer food and beverages that allow customers to experience Japanese food culture.”

Based on the only lounge rendering that has been released so far, it looks like the lounge will have some amazing views. Presumably it’ll have similar views to the Cathay Pacific Lounge Tokyo Haneda, which is located in the same area. Okay, the renderings might slightly exaggerate the views, as you’d almost think that the lounge is in the air traffic control tower, or something.

Will this lounge be worth visiting?

In general, I find lounges run by credit cards to be most impressive in the United States. That’s for two reasons:

  • Within the United States, even elite members and first class passengers often don’t have lounge access, while lounge access is a standard perk for those traveling on international itineraries
  • Credit card lounges are typically better than lounges run by US airlines, so they have a big advantage there, while outside the United States, they’re often not comparatively as exciting

For example, I love visiting the Chase Sapphire Lounge New York (LGA), since it’s by far the best lounge at the airport. However, I probably wouldn’t visit the Chase Sapphire Lounge Hong Kong (HKG), if I could instead use the Cathay Pacific The Pier Business Lounge, or the Qantas Lounge, for example.

Now, in the case of Tokyo Haneda Airport, I’d say it’s more of a mixed bag. The Amex Centurion Lounge looks way better than the contract and Priority Pass lounges, while it likely won’t be to the caliber of the Japan Airlines First Lounge or the Cathay Pacific Lounge.

I think the biggest concern with this new lounge is the size. At just over 7,000 square feet, this won’t be a very big lounge, and I imagine it’ll be crowded over many hours.

Bottom line

An Amex Centurion Lounge is coming to Tokyo Haneda Airport Terminal 3 in 2025. It’s great to see the Centurion Lounge network expanding to Japan, though this lounge will be on the small side, at around 7,300 square feet, with seating for 122 people.

What do you make of the Amex Centurion Lounge Tokyo Haneda?

Was recently waiting in line at the Amex lounge in Atlanta. An employee come out and asked if anyone had a centurion card. This over botoxed woman says she has that card. Then the employee came over to her and she said she left it at home. Hahaha

Employee was trying to be nice.
They can easily look it up.

Anyone with the card knows the protocol, and the secret room.

Will this one open before the DCA Centurion Lounge?

I’m looking forward to the new lounge, despite general low expectations on it.
Japanese airlines have different philosophy on lounges comparing to CX, QR, LH, et cetera. Japanese airline lounges are very business oriented - in other words, doing perfect on the basics and zero on the extras. I hope Amex can bring something more than just a basic lounge to HND.

Credit card lounges in the US good? Strongly disagree. Amex Centurion Lounges, which represent the lion's share, are crowded frat houses. Even the one at LHR T3. No enforcement of decorum. People filling shopping bags and gym bags with food from the buffet. No thanks.

What state is Heathrow in, again?

Jk. But seriously they vary wildly. LAS and LAX centurion lounges do indeed fit the frat house description, whereas SEA is fantastic… ATL sounds brilliant but I haven’t yet been…. just depends. Still miles ahead of PP lounges and some airline lounges.

      :-) 100% ;-)
funny to see your lines @Lee . . . i was just there too in Feb'24 and saw exactly how you described it! So i guess it was NO 1 time thing what i experienced at LHR.
But i was not surprised, seeing some of the people "working" at the AmEx lounge.

I was in disbelieve after that visit and just woke me up again, how the City of London especially is under control of some Immigrant Nationals, who do the lazy work jobs! I guess this counts for the Centurion Lounge at T3 too?
Signs of ONLY consuming stuff, while in the Lounge might help, but enforcing things would ge better.
Some people DO FORGET, they are "guests" at a Lounge and not owners, even if they are Members of a certain card!
To me, that was the worst AmEx Centurion experience i have ever seen!
Sort of happy, to see your lines here today too on the same experience i had there!
I tried to ignore, but now i just saw confirmation in your lines.
      THANKS.
Even the BA C Lounge at T5 is better in terms of the crowd there!

Nice to have another option. I find the JAL first class lounge wildly overrated — just like the airline.

JAL new first class is top notch- equal to any of the great Asian airlines.

HND airline lounges have quite high standards, while Priority Pass is quite low, interesting to see how Amex will position it.

Being relatively small, it is probably the space that ANA recently vacated

Could be interesting for you to do a HND lounge review here at some point along with the newer ones.

Delta's HND SkyClub is also very impressive. Would be nice to know how these lounges stack up against the Japanese carries since a lot of award travelers are focused on Japan.

    1. Steven Guest

I found Delta HND SkyClub better than JAL and ANA business class lounge, on par with Cathay lounge at HND.

    2. yoloswag420 Guest

Yes, the Delta SkyClub's premium alcohol and cocktails win out.

And if you stop by right now, you can be one of the first hundred people in line!
