Tipping currency on international travel

Tipping currency on international travel

Hi Lucky, with all your international travel post describing wonderful hotel info, I was wondering how do you go about tipping when not being able to add to a credit card transaction? Porter, baggage handler? Do you get some local currency or us USD? We are traveling to Kong Kong and AUE next spring on points and miles. Your experience on this subject would be appreciated.

We generally withdraw local currency from an ATM in the airport. Neither Charles Schwab nor USAA charge an ATM fee, which makes it pretty easy.
