This may interest no one apart from geeks like me but since I’m stuck at home with nothing to do I found this rather interesting:

So Cape Town, ZA is an extremely expensive destination to go over the Xmas holidays. TAP just launched a CPT route a few days ago, with fares on Saturday Jan 2 + Monday Jan 4 (the two most expensive days of the year) from CPT-US East Coast (via Lisbon) in business for $1,175. I decided to hold out and not book, thinking that no one will book bc of Covid. By this morning, the fare from CPT-IAD had risen to $1,560. At that point, I jumped on it and booked for 4 people. The price is now $2500 one way. The odd thing is, on expertflyer the flight was showing J9 (the fare class I booked), but after I booked just 4 seats it decreased to J0, with the next available fare class being D9.

Does anyone know why that happens/have experience with this?
