Hey guys, I just came across this blog and this is a completely new world. Quite casually I was doing some research on the AMEX business platinum card and saw a recent article published here. I am going to be moving to the US this upcoming January from Australia and had a couple of queries about this card (I’m sorry if the answers are obvious and I’m being tedious).

1- Would I be eligible for this card even if I don’t own a business? I will be moving to Charlotte, and will have employees, but by no means I own the firm I will be working for.

2- Meeting the minimum spent on tuition fees. I have done a bit of research and found a company called ‘Plastiq’ which allows you to pay tuition fees with the credit card. Would I be able to use their services to pay this? This would be very important, since only the tuition fees would allow me to get the full sign-up bonus, which from what Ben wrote seems to be great.

hi Jack, welcome!

You will need a business of some type in order to open the card. It could be small or something you are just starting.
Plastiq should be fine for meeting your spend needs.
