And finally I get to hit that sixth continent, if only for a long weekend.
I was invited down to Mendoza, Argentina this weekend for the Masters of Food & Wine Event. The event is sponsored by Park Hyatt and American Airlines, and they were generous enough to take care of my hotel and airfare. So this evening I’ll be flying American Airlines down to Buenos Aires and then onwards to Mendoza, where I’ll be spending a few nights at the beautiful Park Hyatt Mendoza.
I’m not meaning to rub it in, but it looks like it’ll be 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit down there this weekend… 😉
Of course I’ll have plenty of updates and a detailed trip report when I return. And don’t fret, in the meantime I promise I’ll finish posting my Qatar trip report.
I know it’s a long shot, but anyone else going to be down there?
What did you do to warrant the comped trip? Was this because of the blog...new AA activity...or from hyatt?
65-70 degrees! Almost as nice as California ;)
Lucky,
You will probably have to take Ezeiza Taxi from EZE to Jorge Newberry Aeroparque for the flight to Mendoza. We were in Mendoza and inside the Park Hyatt Casino 3 years ago. You should enjoy it very much. As a side note, we just got back from Bs.As. 3 weeks ago after spending 45 days there living as ex-pats. Have a great trip!
Can't wait to hear about it. I have been to BA and Mendoza, but not at the PARK HYATT, I am a starwood gal, but it should be fun! will read the trip report! have fun!
Nice gig Ben - good for you! Look forward to the TR.
@ Despina -- They did, thankfully!
@ Brad -- It doesn't, though you can bet I'm not complaining. It booked into "U" and "Z" (American's award buckets).
@ aly -- Look forward to meeting you!
@ Simon -- Truth be told, as far as I know, nothing. They asked me whether I was interested in going, I said "sure," and that was that (more or less). I assume they want me to write about it, though I don't have any explicit "obligations" (as far as I know, as of now).
Sounds awesome!!!
Lets just hope that TSA doesn't ruin the trip by asking your name at security!
Will you take a double bump if given the opportunity? :)
Can't wait to read all of your complaints. ;)
What are your commitments/obligations during your time there (specific to the event)?
i'll be there -going with Hyatt too!!! excited to meet you!
He's not going to get miles for a free flight, but doesn't sound like a bad gig in any case
And most importantly, does this trip down to Mendoza via EZE count towards your Exec Plat challenge even though AA is picking up the tab? Talk about a sweet mileage run if it is!
¡Buena suerte mi amigo!
Congrats!
I was tempted but didn't have my airfare and hotels comped.
Always wanted to try the greatest Malbec Wine ever rated: 98 points by Parker:
2004 Bodegas Catena Zapata Catena Malbec Argentino Vineyard
Have a great time!
@Lucky, I hope you have a wonderful time, and be sure to try some of the wonderful Argentinian red wines. I hope that AA splurged for Business Class :).
