OK, I’ve gotta admit that onboard Wi-Fi is pretty cool. This MD-80 might not have airshow, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have my own. Despite a late departure I should make it home early.
Obligatory “look at me, I’m in the air” post!

@ BTA -- Aeroplan has a maximum of 10 segments per award, and flying US down the coast via CLT would have made me exceed that. Instead I bought a $99 ticket on DL which I got upgraded thanks to NW Plat.
@Gene - to clarify, I have the sound turned off and am not speaking into the microphone, just streaming video and using text to actually chat. Not sure how it would disturb anybody else unless they were watching my screen.
@ndot -- Let me clarify my brash remark. That is not a permitted use of in-flight wi-fi. It is disturbing to most passengers, including myself. I would politely ask you to turn it off.

@ndot -- If I saw you, it would be shut off.
My favorite look I'm in the sky gimmick is to fire up iChat AV and video chat with people on the ground. It works surprisingly well, though I imagine everybody else using wireless suffers from my gratuitous use of shared bandwidth.
so how did you end up on Delta for the last leg of this trip?
@ bmvaughn -- Hah, sorry, I have a $400 crap computer, and that's what it came with.
@ Mike -- Correct, in the long term. In the short term I'll gladly take advantage of it, a) to give it a try and b) because it's free.
@ Gene -- The flight attendants were kind enough to dim the cabin lights, both to allow passengers to sleep and to enhance their appearance. :D
How'd you make the background black on your picture. Looks pretty cool.
@Mike, that's what I thought too. But here's what he said to me on twitter:
@pourazari I don't, but it's free so I figured I'd give it a go. I've been traveling for so long that I appreciate being able to check email
Yea yea, Ben likes the wifi.
Wait...what? I thought you were Mr. "My only alone time is in the air, I will never use inflight wifi"
Also, Delta? ;)
Mike
Vista? Come on Ben... I thought you had class.
