Miraval is Hyatt’s boutique luxury wellness brand. It currently has three locations in the United States, in Austin, the Berkshires, and Tucson. In May 2022, plans were announced for the brand to expand internationally. There’s now an update, as this hotel is expected to open in late March 2026, and is now bookable.
In this post:
Basics of the Miraval Red Sea, Saudi Arabia
Hyatt and the Red Sea Development Company have entered into a management agreement to open Miraval the Red Sea. The luxury wellness resort is expected to open as of March 30, 2026, and will be located on Saudi Arabia’s Shura Island, which is the central hub for the Red Sea Project.

Miraval the Red Sea will offer 180 guest rooms and suites, including 20 villas, spread across over three million square feet. The resort will:
- Have a 40,000 square foot spa with 39 treatment rooms
- Have a walking trail system, mangrove boardwalk, outdoor adventures, and several intentionally purposed rooms set up for art, creative expression, music, wellness lectures, and hands-on workshops
- Have a focus on dining, with a central dining room (Rosemary), a marketplace (Palm Court Cafe), and various cooking classes and workshops (Life in Balance Culinary Kitchen)

As I often say, it’s important to keep in mind that for the major hotel groups, it’s investors that are really the customers, and us guests are the product being sold to investors. We’ve seen an incredible number of new developments announced in Saudi Arabia lately, which reflects that Saudi Arabia is trying to heavily pivot to tourism in the long run.
Saudi Arabia plans to invest one trillion dollars in tourism over the next decade, making it the country that’s investing the most in tourism. The Red Sea Project is intended to become Saudi Arabia’s premier international leisure destination.
The Red Sea Project spans 10,800 square miles, and includes 120 miles of coastline, plus an archipelago of more than 90 untouched islands, volcanoes, deserts, mountains, and a wide variety of wildlife.
Miraval Red Sea rates & points requirements
With Miraval the Red Sea now being bookable, what are rates like? As a reminder, Miraval offers an inclusive experience, with meals, drinks, and many activities being included. Actually usually costs extra, but that’s not relevant here, since Saudi Arabia continues to be a dry country (outside of very narrow exceptions).
If you’re looking to book a cash stay here, I currently see rates starting at just under 4,000 SAR (~$1,070 USD) per night for single occupancy, and just under 5,000 SAR (~$1,330) per night for double occupancy.

Meanwhile for those looking to redeem World of Hyatt points, I currently see rates starting at 45,000 points per night, whether booking single or double occupancy. Interestingly, this doesn’t match the standard Miraval award pricing (it’s a bit lower, on average), so I’m not sure if that’s a glitch, or what.

Bottom line
Miraval is expanding internationally for the first time, with plans for a property in Saudi Arabia, as part of the Red Sea Development. This property is now accepting reservations for stays as of March 30, 2026.
Saudi Arabia sure is throwing a lot of money at tourism, and I’m curious to see how this all plays out. The Red Sea has already seen several new properties open. Just looking at the major points brands, we’ve already seen the St. Regis Red Sea Resort, and Nujuma, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve Resort, open in the region
What do you make of Miraval’s plans to open a property in Saudi Arabia?
It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but you don’t go to a Miravel to leave the resort. I wish it was a bit closer to home, but points rates seem reasonable.
Interesting, but I'll start with something closer. Is the Miraval in Virginia still happening?
@ Matt -- Based on my understanding, nope. It's now going to be independent, or something.
Even more interestingly, this property was actually listed as a Cat 6 for several months in the Hyatt app so I don't think those points values are a mistake. I think there is very wise agreement that the property cannot (at least initially) get standard miraval rates and it wouldn't shock me is those initial cash values drop after a few months - esp during low season.
