A (now-ex) California Highway Patrol captain has been charged with sexually abusing flight attendants on a recent cross country JetBlue flight. The details here are kind of wild. Dude, keep it in your pants… literally.
In this post:
A cop’s raunchy behavior while flying JetBlue Mint
A 49-year-old Azusa man has been charged with one count of abusive sexual contact within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, a felony that carries a statutory maximum sentence of two years in federal prison. The man is currently released on a $50,000 bond, and is scheduled to be arraigned on May 12, 2025, in United States District Court in downtown Los Angeles.
This incident dates back to April 13, 2025, and involves a JetBlue flight from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Los Angeles (LAX), where the man was traveling in the carrier’s swanky Mint business class.
Before the flight left the gate, the man engaged in inappropriate conduct with two (male) flight attendants. For example, he showed one of the flight attendants a picture of his dog, which “contained pornographic imagery in the background,” of two men having sex. The flight attendant reportedly said “my God,” to which the passenger responded “I was wondering how long it would take you.”
He then told one of the flight attendants that he should go on a cruise with him. During the safety demonstration, when the flight attendant showed how the oxygen mask worked, the passenger responded by making a “hand pumping motion.”
Just after the meal service, and while the plane was in the air, the second flight attendant collected the passenger’s meal tray, and walked past him. The passenger had been drinking heavily, and used his left hand to slap the victim’s buttocks, and then yelled “I love you” to the flight attendant.
Later during the flight, the first flight attendant was in the plane’s front galley, when the passenger entered. At this point the passenger pulled down his pants and underwear, and exposed himself. The flight attendant told the passenger that his behavior was inappropriate.
A short time later, the passenger asked for wine, a request that was denied. At this point the man again pulled down his pants and underwear, and the flight attendant said “enough, go back to your seat.”
While being escorted off the plane by police at LAX, the man reportedly shouted “this is all your fault because you didn’t go to the bathroom with me.” During interviews with law enforcement, the flight attendants confirmed that neither of them consented to this behavior. Meanwhile the passenger claimed that wasn’t true, and that the flight attendant solicited him to go to the bathroom (almost certainly not true).

What is wrong with people?!?
Obviously this passenger’s behavior completely crossed the line, full stop, and he’s now suffering the consequences, as he should.
That being said, I’m a bit puzzled by the lack of deescalation, up until the end of the flight. For example, at first, did the flight attendants find this to be just flirty and didn’t mind, or were they annoyed from the beginning?
Like, when he showed the flight attendant literal porn, shouldn’t the response have been “sir, that’s inappropriate, and if you do that again, we’ll have to remove you from the aircraft,” rather than “my God,” which someone could interpret positively (especially if they’re as horny as this guy seemed to be). And if someone is repeatedly acting completely inappropriately, shouldn’t the crew stop serving them alcohol?
Let me be clear, I’m in no way justifying his behavior, and the flight attendants are the victims here. But flight attendants are also supposed to identify problematic behavior for the safety of all passengers, especially if it can be identified before takeoff. After all, he could’ve acted equally inappropriate toward other passengers.
It’s just strange to me that this guy was acting like a fool from before takeoff, yet they didn’t do anything about it, kept serving him alcohol, etc.

Bottom line
A California cop has been fired and charged with sexually abusive contact, after his behavior on a JetBlue flight, while flying in Mint business class. The dude’s behavior seemed to be inappropriate from before takeoff. However, the crew seemed to tolerate it until before landing (and kept serving him alcohol), at which point he exposed his genitals multiple times. He was ultimately arrested on arrival, and now faces up to two years in jail.
What do you make of this inappropriate JetBlue behavior?
What does this sick person being a cop has anything to do with this? You are just one of those people who likes to make cops look bad. SHAME ON YOU!
Police are rightfully held to a higher standard than the general public, so it’s entirely appropriate to mention the person’s job.
If San Francisco was the City, The Mayor would have awarded him the Key to the City!
(You okay?)
I like to say that one's drunk behavior is a base version of their normal behavior. How much privilege did this man have throughout his life that this sort of behavior would occur to him in any context...
How many assaults on crew, fights between passengers, flights turned around or redirected could the country have avoided if alcohol was simply banned from airports and airlines. But it's inconvenient so let's not discuss it. Easier that way.
It’s too bad CHiPs hasn’t been rebooted to do an episode about this. Oops
wrong side. Actually where is a show about FA’s? Seems obvious.
Stop posting this type of stuff. How does this relate to what your blog is promoting. You really need a refresh. I’m sorry Lucky it’s getting bad.
Go read another blog.
Seeing the title, I thought YOW was an airport code in Canada...
LOL
It would be a logical code for Ottawa. - haha
(and, indeed, it is the code for Ottawa.)
Gays flight attendants ask for this behavior.
They should not be so obvious on the plane and encouraged by airline DEI management which uses this group to pink collar and underpay straight professional flight attendants and those who do not advertise their character.
It has been common knowledge this profession is loaded with gays since the time the Eastern Airline Steward murder of the 50s in Miami caused such a scandal as a “queer hive”...

These guys failed at their jobs in my opinion if they were gay at B6. Leaving it at that.
Such ignorant statements. I hope Karma catches you.
The reference to the 50’s makes sense, as that’s the era of your mindset. Homophobic is just the start of your feeble-minded personality challenges.
No one deserves to be sexually harassed in or out of the workplace. Take your bigotry elsewhere, please. And don’t let the door hit you on the way out - we don’t need homophobic bu+t prints on the door,
@KlimaBXsst I thought they'd stopped making people like you? Shouldn't you be dressed in a latex Mother Superior costume and indulging in some self-flagellation while you recite the Act of Contrition 1000 times? Go on, now... run along.
Yea there are definitely some flamers. You would think after being shown porn the first time they would have had enough. And I’m sure it’s white privilege too. Had it been a minority they would have been off the plane asap. If it was a female flight attendant she would have went on a DEI power trip and had him off the plane asap. The male flight attendants probably liked it
I bet if it was a unicorn…oh wait that’s just as dumb as your unverifiable nonsense.
He should be permanently blacklisted for all domestic and intnl flts
Well, at least if he goes to prison, he won't be able to choose his bf. LOL
Prison rape jokes are always so funny!
Oh, dear. I'm sure his hangover was tinged by a little more regret than usual.
Can't fault the FAs for not issuing a warning pre-flight for the porn image. It really depends on context. If you're an FA casually having a funny conversation with an passenger and he pulls out his phone to show, "these were the 2 people I just saw having sex in the airport lounge/bathroom/etc." - it'd be a little excessive to call the airport police to drag out a Mint passenger. Gay or not, it was also a conversation between same gender.
Reminds me of this, some of the comments are awesome!

I would be a little more empathetic towards the flight attendants. Most men have probably never experienced sexual harassment. It makes sense they could be a little stunned, unsure of how to react, and maybe think they could handle it until landing.
I hope the airline reviews their policies and training to see how FAs can be better supported in these situations. (e.g. maybe FAs should have more discretion to deboard passengers or stop serving...

I hope the airline reviews their policies and training to see how FAs can be better supported in these situations. (e.g. maybe FAs should have more discretion to deboard passengers or stop serving alcohol.) Also, while it would raise many privacy concerns, if there were cameras in the cabins and/or galleys it could potentially record incidents like groping or indecent exposure.
FA’s DO have authority to restrict or cease service of alcohol. Whether or not “Responsible service of alcohol” is a portion of their training at JetBlue I don’t know but that is pretty much industry standard to include some of that in training for any role where you serve alcohol. It’s required in most states for servers and bartenders. I recognize FAs are not technically either of those, but I’d think JetBlue would include it...

Putting that training to use is another story - it can be difficult and/or awkward to cut someone off, especially if you want to avoid a confrontation. The easy/sneaky way out is if someone is drinking mixed drinks to serve them drinks without alcohol (not saying this is right!). Since it sounds like he was drinking wine that wasn’t an option.
Why the need to put “male” in parens in the title?
@ Smith -- I'm confused, is your point about the uses of parenthesis, or mentioning he's male? If the latter, it's because I consider that to be an interesting angle here, since more often than not, inappropriate conduct toward flight attendants is directed at women (probably reflecting that most men are straight).
I believe most is directed toward women.
@ Timtamtrak -- Whoops, indeed. Thank you, updated.
I agree "... more often than not, inappropriate conduct toward flight attendants is directed at women (probably reflecting that most men are straight)," but emphasising the victims are male here is discrimination to me.
“…emphasising the victims are male here is discrimination to me.”
I do not think “discrimination” means what you think it means.
@ernestnywang… the victims were male? This is a factual statement so not sure what you’re getting at.
Agreed Ben, he definitely should have been warned by the FAs when he showed the photo on the ground. But I will say in the FA's defense, nobody is expecting some stranger to just randomly and openly show them pornography, so the response is kind of understandable. It's shocking. They shouldn't have served him ANY alcohol for the duration of the flight though.

Usually the people who expose themselves are so ugly looking that there is a risk of blindness if you see it.
How about the slap? No charges for that?
Aren’t you a repeated poster of anti-Black racism on this blog? If so, choke on a cock.
Arps, you are a vile creature who would do well to wind your neck in, numpty.
I read that he was already "ex", which I think I know why. If not, he will be now. When you combine excessive booze, pills, and a toddler state level of maturity you get this. And BTW at age 49 and his personal habits I will bet he ain't no Chippendale.
Interestingly a debate (well I'm seemingly am the only one on the one side of the debate) over flight attendants that cut off flyers...

Interestingly a debate (well I'm seemingly am the only one on the one side of the debate) over flight attendants that cut off flyers in first class and sometimes make up a fib as an excuse. While flight attendants shouldn't lie, I highly doubt they're cutting off someone that has just a few drinks in flight. In fact some think they should be able to down double after double. And of course this kind of event can happen.
He probably ain't no Chippendale, I'm sure, but this behaviour would still be completely unacceptable if it came from a 20yo swimwear model. This guy obviously has some substance abuse issues to address, and the big trouble he's found himself in just might be a catalyst for change.
