Hopefully both passengers learned a lesson. Regardless, physical violence (especially against a child) is beyond unacceptable, no matter how immature the other person is being.

46-year-old woman & 12-year-old boy fight on flight
View from the Wing flags a pretty wild story of what happened on Memorial Day (Monday, May 26, 2025), on Allegiant Air flight 2885 from Orlando Sanford Airport (SFB) to Hagerstown Regional Airport (HGR).
During the boarding process, a 12-year-old boy reportedly taunted the 46-year-old woman who was his seat mate, calling her “fat” and “Miss Piggy,” and stating she couldn’t fit in her seat. The first thing to understand is that it sounds like these two travelers were related in some way. It’s possible that the woman was the boy’s mother, but that hasn’t been clarified one way or another in the police report. However, they seemed to be taking the trip together, along with some other people on the flight.
After being taunted, the woman took the boy’s phone away, causing the boy to push the woman’s arm off the shared armrest between them. That’s the point at which the woman started smacking the boy. According to passengers, she hit him with a clenched fist, clubbed him with a plastic water bottle, and then slammed his head against the window. One witness claimed she “whipped the s### out of the kid.”
At that point the crew called the authorities, and police boarded the flight. The boy had no physical injuries, but the police determined that the woman “went beyond typical disciplinary actions with multiple strikes to the head.”
The woman was taken into custody and transported to Seminole County Jail, where she has been charged with child abuse. She was released on a $10,000 bond the following day. She’s now scheduled to be arraigned on July 1, 2025. The flight ended up departing around 30 minutes late.
What a terrible family dynamic…
Like I said, we don’t know the relationship between the woman and the boy, but it sounds like they were traveling together, and it’s totally possible that the woman was the boy’s mother.
Obviously the adult has more responsibility here for how she responded to the situation. Becoming physically violent when you’re taunted isn’t appropriate, especially when we’re talking about a kid.
For that matter, it doesn’t exactly sound like a great situation for the kid either. If you’re 12-year-old and you think it’s appropriate to call someone “Miss Piggy,” then obviously there might be some issues with the kid’s upbringing.
So I guess it wouldn’t be surprising that the woman who beats the daylights out of a child is also someone who would in turn be called “Miss Piggy” by that same kid. That’s not a good situation. In a way, maybe it’s good that this happened publicly, so that this kind of behavior can at least be documented, because it seems unlikely that this was the first time this happened.

Bottom line
A 46-year-old woman beat up a 12-year-old boy she was traveling with, after he called her “Missy Piggy” and “fat.” Of course it’s inappropriate to talk that way to others, but getting physically violent is even worse. The woman has now been charged with child abuse, and has been released on a $10,000 bond.
What do you make of this Allegiant flight story?
The relationship between the two people would change the whole meaning of the story
I hate to say this, but my first thought was "Clearly this kid never watched The Muppet Show, or he'd know how Miss Piggy would react..."
As someone posted on Youtube yesterday Low Cost Airline=Low Class People.
Why report something when you have admitted you don’t know the facts?
Julie, it’s time to wash your vagina.
Ok, Miss Piggy!
Completely on the adults side against the brat. When I was young we were always getting whupped by our elders and teachers.
In truth it never did us any harm, in fact it taught us to respect authority. They need to bring back corporal punishment and stop the coddling. Especially if we are to rescue the young in the West from the current over feminized, extreme wokeness.
Your teachers should have whupped you so hard you died.

I know I am going to get a lot of disagreement here. Let it be known that I am against over the top, rage-filled, abusive whuppings. Having said that, I grew up in a family culture that endorsed appropriate spankings, and sometimes slappings of children, when they were out of control. Having said that, I grew up in a family culture that endorsed appropriate spankings, and sometimes slappings of children, when they were out of control. No child should call their elder names like that child. It is disrespectful, and the child needs to learn that it will not be tolerated. Some children are very sensitive and never need to be spanked. Others challenge and challenge and challenge. When I became a parent, I never wanted to discipline my child, but I did it, only when necessary, to teach them boundaries. I would rather teach them boundaries, than have the police or someone on the street teach them boundaries. I also showed my children, a lot of love, and, now, as adults, they have a very loving relationship with me.
Seems appropriate a time as any to say this, but I'm a firm member of the Arps fanclub. He's one of the most entertaining commenters on any blog, and his annoying, prick-ish, trillionaire, law firm identity that he never drops the bit on is hilarious. If I ever met the person he portrays in person I think they would be one of my least favorite people ever. Never change Arp <3
To each his own. I've decided that's one troll I'm no longer going to feed.
Weird thing to write about yourself.
Anyone can tell you have the same diction and writing style as that psycho.
You mean Gary wrote about something BESIDES his free $12 breakfast at the Sheraton in Suva?
The guy’s got a one-track mind, and a two-seat boarding pass!
One track mind.
Two seat boarding pass.
Three centimeter manhood.
Four million dollars made up income as an imaginary partner at Skadden.
How much money do you make, Esk[I won't even say the full name because it is a slur]?
No! No! No!
Arps, you forget I’ve seen yours under a microscope …. It’s only Four millimetres, remember?
Florida.
Just wondering …. Would the 10 people who find the posts of the bragging bungler helpful please identify yourselves?
One finds it hard to believe that 10 individuals are prepared to acknowledge the ravings of such a pathetic creature.
Agree. Even Ben's best takes in the comments rarely hit double digits, and yet we're expected to believe that Doogie Lawyer here suddenly has a fan club?
Have you been cosying up to Arps too, Watson? …. :-)
Oh no, I must be a pro bono case!
Good answer Watson, thank you for the grin …. :-)
Indubitably.
Very normal to comment these things, then create ten fake accounts to self-upvote lol
You’ve just been Arpsed! …. :-)
This fake lawyer person is a thousand times more obnoxious than Tim Dunn's commentary ever was.
Really wish there was a block feature for this site, just to filter it out.
@ ImmortalSynn
Here is an idea for you to stop seeing my comments. Die and go to hell.
I wonder if Skadden is aware that one of their janitors is masquerading as an equity partner on the internet.
Sorry Charles, I find that I must correct you. The numpty in question is actually the tea boy as his janitorial duties were found to be profoundly pitiful.
Rumour Control is hinting that the Law Firm are fully aware of his actions in bringing their good name into dispute. They are building a case against him for impersonating one of their legal types and giving unlawful legal advice. We await his censure. One only...

Rumour Control is hinting that the Law Firm are fully aware of his actions in bringing their good name into dispute. They are building a case against him for impersonating one of their legal types and giving unlawful legal advice. We await his censure. One only hopes that the website is not found to be culpable for aiding and abetting the impersonator.
“… in bringing their good name into dispute.”
Not dispute, “disrepute.”
There are no US laws being broken by her postings or implying, dishonestly, that she’s an attorney or a partner at a global law firm, when it is obviously not the case and everyone understands that.
The only laws she’s breaking are those of social norms, by repeatedly spewing her retarded and blighted worldviews, some bordering on the sociopathic / psychopathic. But then,...

There might not be any laws broken, since Arps isn't impersonating a lawyer by pretending to give legal advice, but I'll wager that big law firms are keen to protect their public image and might well take a dim view of this behaviour. It doesn't have to be illegal to become a litigious nightmare.
Miss Piggy is fabulous, and an icon.
Concur.
Please stop writing about this stuff Ben. Your best and most loyal readers want to know your expertise on miles and points, not people misbehaving on airplanes and in airports.
Then don't click on "this stuff."
Ben, unlike his micropenised counterpart Gary Leff, respects readers by providing 100% accurate and non-clickbaity headlines.
I hate Gary because he'll post an article that says "400,000 points, quick!" and then you'll click in to find out it's the proprietary points currency of a startup bank in Mozambique and the points can only convert at a 1,000:1 ratio to a small foreign airline that doesn't offer redemptions on any...

Gary doesn't travel much anymore so all he has is click bait content for his site.
He should just shut it down because it's pathetic how desperate he is for clicks.
Ben doesn’t travel as much as in the past, either, though still far more than Gary. I don’t blame him — intense travel takes a toll, and he has a family of his own now — but it does mean that something other than trip reviews subdivided into an infinite number of parts, credit card pushes, and debate about Toxic Tim has to fill the blog, particularly as their are no longer other contributors blogging here.

Let me use an analogy offensive to the core morals of westerners, but must be described in a discussion such as this. Please buckle up. It has never been scientifically proven that homosexuality is a product of nature alone. In all likelihood, nurture plays a role. Many cultures - especially, for this blog, let's point to Middle Eastern cultures which provide outstanding First and Business class hospitality both in the ground and in the air - believe that if you are gay, then "obviously" there were "issues with your upbringing."
Much of the readership of this blog is gay and would not find the foregoing statement "obvious" in any way shape or form. By the same token, other cultures would not find it "obvious" that calling someone "Miss Piggy" is inappropriate.
Methinks this is probably time for a little time out
This is some solid absurdist trollery.
What color was the 48 year old black woman? Not that it matters, just curious.
Would you mind shoving your racism up your ass? Please and thank you.
A quick google search will give you the answer! You prob. won't be happy...
Ben, it is very rare I disagree with you, but perhaps our disagreement reflects our respective cultural milieus. I'm in Manhattan. You're in Miami.
You know Manhattan pretty well, though. You know we value direct communication. If a woman is fat, she is fat.
Unambiguous communication is effective and efficient and should be valued over the euphemistic sugarcoated nonsense used throughout middle America which instills the values of laziness and non-ambition in middle Americans.
That's...

That's why I often call people losers if they're not equity partners at top law firms. If you make only $500,000 a year in a 9 to 5 corporate job, middle America will delude you into thinking you've done well for yourself, when in reality, that kind of income trails top equity partners in law by 10x and top people in finance by 100x.
I don't call people losers for not taking home $500m as do KKR co-CEOs because inordinate elements of luck are required to achieve that. But, to get to $5m as equity partner of top law firms, merely a strong work ethic is required. Not putting forth that effort and thus making only $500k makes one definitionally a loser.
Your commitment to the bit is extraordinary, if also creepy.
How sad for you that you think earning $5m a year makes you well off.
If you don't think earning $5m a year makes you well off your head has been shoved so far up your ass it's stretched up to the stratosphere.
KMA, B.
The woman should be jailed in Norway where the prison system hires employees to play chess and other games with an inmate and be assigned as his or her friend. No joke. The mass murdered who shot a bunch of Norwegian youths is in prison and has employees assigned to keep him company and be his friend.
The kid needs counseling.

I knew a kid when I was in school. The mother would swing her fist into the back seat while she was driving. The intent was to smack someone because there was commotion among kids in the back.
Sigh. Do you know how the US came to an overpopulated prison problem? Attitudes exactly like yours. Jails are inhumane and should be abolished. My pro bono work is tangentially advocacy of prison abolition.
If jail is abolished, may I steal your car and burglarize your house? Push an elderly lady on the sidewalk and take her purse.
See, that is why lawyers are so bad. America is in trouble just because of sneaky lawyers.
Sounds like everyone involved got what they deserved.
What an ignorant, uncultured, simpleton, smooth brained conclusion, Ryan.
Do you know the last Ryan I met would urinate on the floor of his apartment when drunk and is now a litigator at a bottom tier law firm, the kind my co-counsel and I laugh to ourselves vigorously about after we prevail in our MSJ?
ENGAGEMENT.
And what's your point? Could your inability to arrive at a decisive and intelligible conclusion be a reason you're not a litigation partner at a top law firm?
Let's be clear. It is NEVER acceptable to hit a kid. EVER.
And, it is acceptable to hit an adult when?
Never acceptable to hit a kid. Never acceptable to (1st party) hit an adult, but acceptable to wish for (3rd party) violence to occur against insubordinate and condescendingly rude adults such as the AA ticket counter agent at LGA who refused to tag Ben's bag with a Priority tag and insulted him in response to his question.
Anytime you are in Florida it's fine to hit an adult....preferably while under the influence of something so you can go full bat poop with the assault.
“Forget it, Jake. It's Allegiant.”
It's remarkable that you, a failed DC lawyer, think this is a comment worthy of posting.
