Avelo Airlines has just launched a new annual membership program, offering some perks in exchange for a fee. Maybe this is worth it if you fly Avelo frequently, but I can’t say that I’m terribly impressed, on the surface.
In this post:
Details of the new Avelo PLUS membership program
Avelo PLUS is a brand new membership program that’s described as being designed to make travel more affordable and convenient. A membership costs $49 for the first year and $99 in subsequent years, and offers the following perks:
- Exclusive low fares, with member-only pricing on flights
- Special deals, with access to member-only promotions and discounts
- Free priority boarding
- A $50 Avelo Cash bonus on account renewal every year
- These benefits are for the member and up to nine others traveling on the same reservation

Here’s how Avelo CEO Andrew Levy describes the new Avelo PLUS program:
“Avelo’s new membership program, Avelo PLUS, gives our Customers even more opportunities to save and experience great Avelo perks. Our Customers have been asking for a program for loyal Customers, and we’re excited to offer Avelo PLUS and expand on our already affordable, convenient and reliable air service by providing even more value for travelers.”

I guess this is worth it if you fly Avelo frequently?
My first impression is that Avelo PLUS could make sense if you fly with the airline with some frequency, though I can’t say this program somehow makes me want to fly Avelo, or would do anything to convince me to fly with Avelo over a competitor.
Avelo isn’t the first airline to offer some sort of a membership program. Essentially I’d consider the program to cost $49 per year (after subtracting the $50 Avelo credit you get starting on your account renewal), and for that, you receive priority boarding, and access to lower fares and promotions.
So yeah, I’m sure if you take a few trips on the carrier each year, you’d probably at least break even on this membership. But this isn’t some slam dunk program that’s going to drive loyalty to the airline, in my opinion.
Bottom line
Avelo Airlines has launched a new membership program, named Avelo PLUS. It costs $49 for the first year, and $99 in subsequent years. For that, you receive a discount on flights, priority boarding, access to promotions, and a $50 Avelo voucher on renewal every year.
If you fly Avelo anyway, it could be worth it. But this doesn’t strike me as something that’s going to move the needle one way or another.
What do you make of the new Avelo PLUS program?
I wonder how big of a savings the fares are. Nice to get priority boarding, I guess? I’ve gotten more than 3x the value of my Spirit Savers Club membership this year but about 1/3 of my 50 flights have been on NK. Like you said if you fly Avelo a lot it’s probably a good value and it’s a smidge cheaper than NK’s SC.
Are there any sort of prisoner or flights-to-Somalia discounts available?
Not yet - they’re going to use the revenue from this to get ETOPS qualified for that.
I continue to be unimpressed with the brain trust at ICE Air
Miles and More is doing status match with ITA Volares without any limits. Any ITA Volares members even status matched members can get Miles and More Senator, provided they have executive or premium status
Post about it lucky. Here is the link

Does that get you upgraded on the deportation flights they operate?
Yes, it seems like a good deal if you're going to fly them at least 6-8 times a year. I suspect the airline is going after people that fly once every 1-2 months. Seems you'd get more than what AA would provide as a GLD AAdvantage member.
Sun Country also just launched a similarly underwhelming elite status (also called Plus).
