Have you ever wondered who manufactures the Lufthansa First Class Terminal/Lounge ducks? Good, neither have I!
I am a big collector, though, and have certainly wondered about the possibility of producing my own duck collection.
Anyway, my friend Jim sent me a link to the company which does produce the ducks for Lufthansa (and lots of other brands), which is badeenten.de. They seem to produce ducks for all kinds of companies, including several hotel brands and Lufthansa.
Here’s a short video of the process:
Hmmm, now I wonder if I should email them and see if they can custom make the limited edition Lufthansa ducks that I’ve missed over the years…
Gary may be Mr Fancy Pants, but I'm calling you all Fancy Pants! I received a rubber duck just like those from a Hampton Inn (don't remember which one, my guess is Moline, IL).
+1: you must produce your own line of Lucky Ducks! It's also going to be a lot safer to toss rubber ducks at FTUs instead of amenity kits :D
P.S. Everyone should check out their line of City-Ducks(R)
P.P.S. Yes, one of the City-Ducks(R) is a Peking duck :P
To obtain a 'lucky duck' is one required to book a shower room at Lucky's?
I hope you follow through on this and have your own line of them so your readers can become proud owners of "Lucky Ducks". ;-)
Agree with Kris - mine either say Factotum and have their Mainz address listed and/or say made in China or have nothing on the bottom.
The Apex hotel chain in the UK also has a line of ducks... http://www.apexhotels.co.uk/en/community/blog/apex-duck-guide/
Unfortunately, I'm not sure that Apex is your usual standard though :(
I also did not find any URL sticker on my ducks - neither on the FCT ones nor on the ones from Conrad hotels.
@Ben
I just looked at my four, two just say Made in China and the other two have no URL, but say Factotum.
I'm surprised you didn't know about this. There is a small sticker on the bottom of the ducks with the URL on it.
Are these ducks eBay potential? You could be sitting on a gold mine.
How about producing some "One Mile at a Time" ducks to be given away to your readers?
You'd probably have more luck getting them to produce a custom duck for your readers that just happens to be extremely close to some of the ones you are missing ;)
