Via Gary:
Through April 26, and limited to the first 1000 people that apply, Etihad Guest is offering a status match program up to their mid-tier Gold level.
The program is most beneficial for folks flying Etihad (bonus miles) and in particular in economy (with lounge access, expedited immigration, etc).
To claim the status match, email [email protected] with a scanned copy of your current equivalent or higher status card, latest mileage statement, and Etihad Guest account number.
Unless you fly Etihad Airways in coach or on revenue first/business class tickets, it doesn’t seem like there are any especially useful benefits. Then again, I know a lot of people that just love shiny cards in their wallet.
And while I have plans to fly Etihad again in the next year on an award ticket, I can’t imagine the service would be noticeably better if I had a Gold card.
As of June 2012 Etihad modified their membership program so that on certain class of tickets one can't get 1 mile for 1 mile. This is new to me. Instead they will redeem in some cases 1/2 file for each mile. Anyone know if this is a norm among others?

Has anyone got a response or had their status change? I submitted 12 hours after the offer was listed and have seen nothing so far...
I have AA Plat and I use Etihad for my flights from Doha. This is very useful because with AA Plat you don't get oneworld treatment in Abu Dhabi, so this is a great option (priority check-in, fast track and boarding, free massage at Six Senses Spa @ Pearl Lounge). Great Post and tip!
usefull advice for us Germans. With Etihad Gold you´ll get all Air Berlin Gold-Features at the Airport (lounge, checkin, priority luggage, fast lane). Good for me as a LH flyer who just occasionally fly AB. Thanks :)
Just did sent it off. Hopefully I get it as my Virgin Australia status match is due to run out in a couple of months. This will prolong my ability to enter Virgin Australia lounges here ;-)
Then again, might not be flying Virgin Aus much with my soon-to-be newly minted Platinum Qantas :-)
@ Roland -- If I had to guess I'd say they're probably not too picky. I suspect AAdvantage Gold would qualify. After all, it's not like they're really handing out any benefits here, they're just trying to attract more business.
Just thinking out loud, how would this impact someone like AA where gold is the entry-level tier, versus UA/US/DL where gold is 2nd tier up?
