The $199 annual fee World of Hyatt Business Credit Card (review) is Hyatt’s only business credit card. While I’d argue that the World of Hyatt Credit Card (review) is all-around more lucrative, there’s still potentially quite a bit of value to be had in picking up the business version of the card as well.
I applied for the World of Hyatt Business Card shortly after it was introduced and was instantly approved, and I know many readers are in the same boat. In this post, I wanted to share six reasons to consider picking up Hyatt’s business credit card. In no particular order…

60,000 World of Hyatt bonus points
The World of Hyatt Business Card is offering a welcome bonus where you can earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 within the first three months. I value World of Hyatt points at ~1.5 cents each, so to me that welcome bonus is worth $900. Note that you’re eligible for this card (including the bonus) even if you have the personal version of the card.
Doesn’t count toward 5/24 limit
Chase has what’s known as the 5/24 rule, whereby you typically won’t be approved for a card if you’ve opened five or more new card accounts in the past 24 months (though there are many reports lately of it no longer being consistently enforced).
While this card is theoretically subjected to that rule, the good thing is that applying for the World of Hyatt Business Card won’t count as a further card toward that limit.
In other words, if you’re at 4/24 and you apply for a Chase business card, you’ll still be at 4/24 (under the limit). Meanwhile if you’re at 4/24 and you apply for a Chase personal card, you’ll be at 5/24 (which is the limit). Therefore I always recommend picking up Chase business cards before Chase personal cards.
$100 in Hyatt credits per year
While the World of Hyatt Business Card has a $199 annual fee, much of that is offset by the card’s $100 Hyatt credit every anniversary year. Just spend $50 or more at any Hyatt property, and you’ll receive a $50 statement credit, up to twice every anniversary year.
If you stay at Hyatts with any frequency, then that credit should be worth face value. And frankly if you’re not staying at Hyatts at least twice per year and spending $50 each time (even if it’s on incidentals), then the card probably isn’t for you.
Earn Hyatt elite nights at a fast pace
The World of Hyatt Business Card offers five World of Hyatt elite qualifying nights for every $10,000 spent on the card in a calendar year. In other words, in the right increments, you’re earning one elite night for every $2,000 spent.
As a point of comparison, the personal version of the card offers two elite nights for every $5,000 spent, so the rate of earning elite nights on the business version of the card is better (however, the business version of the card doesn’t offer any elite nights just for being a cardmember).
Being able to earn elite nights through credit card spending can be valuable, whether you’re going for World of Hyatt Globalist status, or are looking to reach the next Milestone Rewards threshold, to earn suite upgrade awards, club access awards, Guest of Honor awards, etc.
Unique spending bonus categories
The primary reason you’ll want to spend money on the World of Hyatt Business Card is because of the ability to earn World of Hyatt elite nights. However, if you’re going to spend money on the card, you’ll want to maximize your return on spending, and that’s where this card has a unique feature.
The World of Hyatt Business Card is Chase’s first card to feature an adaptive accelerator, rewarding cardmembers based on the categories that they spend the most money in each quarter. The card consistently offers 4x points for spending at Hyatt hotels and 2x points for fitness clubs and gym memberships.
On top of that, the card offers 2x points in your top three spending categories each quarter through December 31, 2024 (in 2025 and beyond, you’ll earn 2x points on your top two spending categories). Those potential bonus categories include the following:
- Dining
- Airline tickets purchased directly with airlines
- Car rental agencies
- Local transit and commuting
- Gas stations
- Internet, cable, and phone services
- Social media and search engine advertising
- Shipping
If you are going to put spending on the card, I recommend putting as much spending on the card as possible in bonus categories, so you can earn elite nights and maximize your points.
Discoverist status for up to six people
The World of Hyatt Business Card offers Discoverist status not only for the primary cardmember, but also for up to five employees (they don’t even have to be authorized users on the card). While this is only entry-level status, it still offers some valuable perks, especially when you consider that you can gift this status to five others. The perks of Hyatt Discoverist status include the following:
- Upgrade to a preferred room, when available
- 2PM check-out
- Premium internet
- Daily bottled water
- 10% bonus points
Bottom line
The World of Hyatt Business Card has a solidwelcome bonus, as you can earn 60,000 World of Hyatt bonus points after spending $5,000 within three months. On an ongoing basis, the card isn’t quite the slam dunk that the World of Hyatt Credit Card is, at least in terms of being able to derive value from the card without even putting spending on it.
Nonetheless, this is a great card with some valuable perks, and which in the long run could be worth spending money on in order to earn elite nights. With this card you can earn one elite night for every $2,000 spent, rather than for every $2,500 spent on the personal card.
