Earn 250(!!!) Avios Per Dollar Spent On Kate Spade Purchases… Hopefully?

Make of this what you will, but the British Airways Club’s shopping portal in the United States is currently offering 250 Avios per dollar spent on Kate Spade purchases (thanks to JJ for flagging this). That’s of course an unbelievable return on spending.

British Airways shopping portal Kate Spade page
Earn 250 Avios per dollar spent with Kate Spade

Now, everyone can decide for themselves whether they want to take advantage of this. It reminds me a little of the American SimplyMiles promotion we saw in 2021, offering 240 AAdvantage miles per dollar spent on select donations. That was ultimately honored, but it was also co-funded by Citi, and I think the fact that the money went to a good cause helped as well.

Personally, I’m less optimistic here, but I’m sharing this so everyone can make their own decision. I took advantage of the SimplyMiles promotion, while personally, I’m not a “buyer” here. Then again, I’d have to imagine if this is not honored, they’d have to find a way to make people whole, and that could also be tricky (that’s just my take, but I’m not a lawyer)…

Are people waiting to hear back from the BA shopping portal? Like many on this site, I submitted my missing avios claim nearly a week ago. Now that my purchase has actually arrived, it seems the possibility of 250X being honored is futile, I kind of want to return this item now.

    1. Pablo Guest

I think BA will make a move once the 30 day return window expires…. But then again. If this is taken to court for false advertisement there is a good chance they will be held accountable ….. if not a chargeback will always work for breach of contract …. In both scenarios this looks really bad on BA and KS

    2. Patrick Guest

I am waiting to hear back - I assume that they will take all of the 28 days they said in their email reply after submitting a claim and will likely miss the return window. I had so much FOMO after missing the AA gem several years ago that I had to at least try this!

    3. Patrick Guest

Ben wrote about it when it happened in 2021 - something like 240 AA miles/dollar donated to a certain company or program through Simply Miles. I think he ended up getting millions of AA miles from it, and I was too late to the game on it!

    4. Nobody Guest

bought under $300 and with Amex RP. So I'm good to go. Just a matter if I want to do that.

    5. Scott Guest

I’m in the same boat. Bought approximately $7k worth of goods and they’re all delivered sitting in my garage. I luckily bought on a CC with return protection. I filed the shopping portal claim like everyone else b it have not heard anything back. Bummer.

    6. Dave Guest

I'm too lazy to deal with return protection. Don't even care to wait the whole 30d. I have a Kate Spade store in town; so may just give it up since I don't see this resolving in my favor.

  2. Ricky Guest

Kate Spade said absolutely not to any refund/return on my final sale backpack :(

Didn't use a credit card with return protection either so that's all my fault.

    1. Dee Guest

Called katespades today and they issued a refund for my final sales item

If BA gets involved there is higher change of the positive resolution, as my guess is that BA is not really involved in this process, and only selling avios. But their name is on the line here as the portal is white labeled as theirs. May make sense to call and talk to them and see what they say.

  4. World traveler Guest

I gotta feel bad for Kate Spade. They will be on the hook for shipping tons of packages out and tons of packages back. It all adds up. Hopefully they can recoup shipping costs from BA.

    1. mickyb New Member

Kate Spade were displaying with inflated rates on a number of other shopping portals, so it seems pretty clear that the error was at their end, not BA's.

    2. rtp Guest

I think they're all maintained by Cartera Commerce.

  5. Karl Guest

It’s clear now the tracking email they sent is incorrect at 4x. There needs to be a critical mass of people claiming what’s rightfully owed to them. It said 250x, honor it. Submit a claim in the BA portal.

    1. Steve Guest

I filed my claim yesterday. It will be interesting to see what their response is.

Has anyone receive any sort of communication that mentions the offer? Or have they just acted as if no such thing existed and just confirmed the orders at 4x points for everyone?

  6. V L Guest

Is if this shopping portal affiliated with British Airways,
or it is a separate entity? Clearly it is a white labeled website, which offer services to different loyalty programs.. as all of them look the same (Wyndham, etc..)
So, it is unclear if BA has any responsibility here. If they do, maybe filing a dispute with BA directly could help.
    Any thoughts?

    1. Steve Guest

It's owned by British Airways Plc so they are the ones who are responsible.

Well at least her name is still up in lights and on products. Now the company owned by Tapestry that also owns Coach, who I was the first manufacturer in China for them in the 1990's.
    God Bless her soul.

  8. Joe Guest

They obviously know they screwed up.

The question is: will they ignore it, or will they own the mistake and either offer free return shipping or just give us the miles.

    1. rtp Guest

This will ignore it. Their T&C's protect them:

Any typographical, clerical or other error or omission on any page of this web site shall be subject to correction without any liability on our part.

Time to start the return process, folks.

    2. Ben Guest

They can write whatever they want into their terms and conditions, but a small claims court, your attorney general, and/or the FTC may take a different view. Companies write various crazy things into waivers or T&Cs all the time in order to make it seem like they're responsible for nothing; don't believe everything you read.

  9. Wayne Guest

I just checked on the BA Shopping Portal and Kate Spade is not listed anywhere.

  10. Geff Guest

Mine tracked and I got the payout email but at 2.003 avios per dollar (exlcuding tax and shipping)...already filed dispute.

  11. Taplu Guest

This is hilarious! BA joined hands with Kate Spade to start the new year with $$$$$

  12. justindev Guest

I am curious, did anyone receive the x250 avios?

    1. Luis G Guest

Apparently not! Only 4avios per dollar

I spent $2,393 hoping to get almost 600K avios points and just got the email confirmation of 9,572 avios coming my way… just like everybody else, will submit a claim, but I’d doubt it’ll work in our favor

    2. Pete Guest

You knew the offer was not real. I am surprised people think they would pay out 250 avios per $1.. What are you all drinking??

    3. justindev Guest

      @Pete
How would a joe shome know that this offer was not real and that it was not a one time promotion to drum up sales?

  13. Bhavesh Guest

Same here. They awarded 4miles/$. How are you’ll raising a complaint? I filed one claim on their website, but it says might take 90 days to respond.

  14. ben Guest

So how are people approaching this? file points dispute with Avios and hope for the best?

    1. Origami Guest

Going to file for missing Avios in 10 days

  15. Van Guest

Dispute claims submitted, lets see what happens next.

    1. missingavios Guest

How did you dispute? I filed a missing avios claim, and the confirmation page says it can take up to 90 days (way past the return period) to receive a reply.

  16. FrozenKiwi Guest

Just got the same email others have gotten that it’s only x4 miles. Sigh. I’ll reach out

  17. tacrum43 Member

Just got an email about the 4 avios per dollar. What a crock! I could get 9 Atmos points right now. Will definitely be returning the order if they don’t honor it properly

    1. tacrum43 Member

Submitted a missing Avios claim. It did have Kate Spade for the merchant (and no other named merchants) and January 3 for the date date (and not other specific dates) in the drop down menu as an option. Not sure what to make of that exactly, but obviously BA is well aware of the situation. My assumption is that they will try to claim it was an obvious mistake fare type of thing and say sorry but too bad.

    2. digital_notmad Diamond

i assumed that was just because it was the only transaction made recently

    3. Luis G Guest

You just made a very good point most of these purchases were made ono January 2nd, evening for US standard times

The website only shows January 3rd as an option, assuming BA will try to ignore us and won't honor the offer.

I did submit my claim though, submitted a screenshot of when the offer showed 250points per dollar plus proof of purchase and pending status, hoping for the best

  18. Mark Guest

After submitting the dispute form, they say that it may take 28 days to respond due to high volume. So that is right up against the deadline to return the items.

    1. Aviosman Guest

Where did you dispute? I disputed on the ba shopping portal and it said up to 90 days.

    2. Mark Guest

Ba shopping portal. They said the 28 day thing in a follow up email.

  19. Ricky Guest

I just got my email that my $398 purchase is pending for 1,592 Avios, so 4x vs 250x. I am kicking myself for buying something that wasn’t refundable but at least I got a nice leather backpack

    1. Joe Guest

Don't let them get away with this bait and switch!

Definitely file with BA. Potentially also ask Kate Spade to make an exception given the extenuating circumstances - remember that they had inflated rates with several portals.

I think a credit card dispute might also make sense in your situation.

  20. RR Guest

Same as others. Did 100 bucks last night and got 467 miles for my purchase today. Filed the dispute as soon as they landed. We'll see what happens. Anything else we should be doing on this?

  21. AV Guest

BA sent an email - they are tracking this at 4X Avios...

  22. digital_notmad Diamond

ditto here - gonna be a lot of fun disputing these charges!

  23. Alex Guest

My wife ordered after me and hers tracked at 4x. Mine has yet to show up. Reaching out to BA and will update.

  24. DSK Guest

Another data point- my transaction tracked and I screen shot every page, but they are only giving me 4 Avios per dollar. About to get very interesting.

    1. LRM Guest

Yes same here. Going to submit a claim but not getting my hopes up.

    2. Mcap Guest

Same! Getting 4 avios per dollar too instead of 250 :(

    3. Amv Guest

Also received 4x email on p1 and p2 purchases. Filed missing avios claim with screenshots.

  25. Peking Duck Guest

Just received an email from BA saying I'm receiving 3,776 Avios for $944 in spend. So 4x instead of 250x. This is their way of saying it won't be honored?

    1. Shall25 Guest

Just got the same email for ~$1k pre tax spend. I clicked through and purchased when it was still 250/$

    2. JuleaM Guest

Same, got confirmation of Avios at 4x spend in the Purchase History.

Anyone have experience of that appearing and being adjusted later?

  26. Bobby Guest

Just received an email from the BA shopping portal ("Shopping at Avios Shop") showing a pending avios balance of 4x spend, rather than 250 (even though the items purchased were eligible for the promotion). Has anyone received similar emails? Best course of action to cancel the order / return items?

  27. John Guest

dp: got an email and my avios shopping account shows an implied rate of 4x

    Purchase date 3 January 2026

    Amount spent $298.00*
    Pending Avios 1,192 Avios

  28. XY Guest

I got an email saying I got 4x pending Avios, I guess they are not honoring 250x now. I placed order about 11pm PST on Jan 2nd

  29. Nobody Guest

My order for $xxx has shipped as well.

    Let's wait for the tracker.

    1. Andy Guest

Well, placed my order at 9:11pm yesterday. Just got the email
      Purchase date 3 January 2026
      Retailer Kate Spade New York
      Amount spent $448.00*
      Pending Avios 1,792 Avios

  30. Pablo Guest

Order has shipped! Still not tracking on the website but it can take up to 5 days I think…

    1. rtp Guest

Just for the record - I also did an order through BA shopping for Lululemon (it was 9x) to use my 1st quarter Platinum credit immediately after a Kate Spade order. Lulu hasn't tracked yet either.

    2. rtp Guest

Update: Lulu tracked exactly 24 hours later. Still not tracked for Kate Spade.

    3. rtp Guest

Oh no... Another update: 4,160 points pending on a $1,040 purchase (4x, not 250x).

  31. tacrum43 Member

My order is shipped! $1680 = 403,000 Avios hopefully!

The bags are nice too. Would be a great deal if it actually works. Would love to try Qatar Q-suite someday :)

    1. justindev Guest

      @tacrum43
Hope they say springs eternally, I'm very confident you will only receive 6,720 instead of the 403,000.
You should return and tell us how many avios you received

I spent $250 and my order was cancelled. I purchased thru the Air Lingus portal….

    1. tacrum43 Member

how can you track this? Is it on the BA shopping portal?

Glad to hear your order seems to be going through with the 250X - congrats!

    2. Bilalistic10 Guest

It got tracked in your purchase history?

    3. Jay Guest

mine doesn't show up as tracked on ba shopping, although it shipped....

    4. X.Y Guest

Can you see the pending transaction in BA portal already? Placed an order last night but no pending transaction, only tracked visit so far.

    5. Ben Guest

Tracked in Visit History Or Purchase History?

    6. XY Guest

I got tracked in purchase history - pending but only 4x. I guess I will just return it.

    7. Steve Guest

Mohamed is probably a troll, since it doesn't seem like this is showing as 250x for anyone.

  34. Jess Guest

My order for $1,500 just got cancelled. Wow, I guess they are not honoring it…

  35. Jessica Guest

My order for $1,500 was cancelled. Wow. Cant believe it

  36. Valeriya Guest

Could anyone please explain who is JJ mentioned in the post? Is that an acronym for another travel blog that could be worth following?

    1. Valeriya Guest

      Thank you for the answer!

  37. Nobody Guest

I think there's a good chance they honor this since it got cut off real fast. OMAAT and DDG only ones posting. And a relatively late Flyertalk thread with a handful of replies, some Japanese site too.

Did get an order in here...let's see how she rolls.

This was a snooze you lose.

Reminds me of Amex Aspire (for $95 or free) wording thing that I did years and years ago.

    1. drew Guest

No way it's all over social media. So many of my friends jumped in. The thing is there is no upper limit.

    2. Nobody Guest

Is this "hit it hard" Drew Macomber? hahahah

I only see a few posts on twitter. and one of those is omaat. Reddit - two posts (One now deleted)

Wasn't even alive one full morning...so for West Coasters who didn't do it last night - dead. Need US address...so that eliminates all outside unless they have a US address or what not -- which is pretty low.

Don't use fakebook, so not sure about that. Unless you talking about some private discord, whatsapp, etc...

    3. ben Guest

it ships to Canada for a fee.

It's also all over Chinese forums and social media, from multiple sites

    5. qlube Guest

Chinese-language sources were all over it. Saw it on facebook and uscardforum with hundreds of replies.

    1. JD Guest

Kate Spade. I had done an in-store order. I'm unsure if it is related to this or just inventory issues because I can place an order for in-store pickup still.

  38. Chuck Guest

Looks like a glitch that has been fixed.

  39. Joe Guest

In for quite a lot of handbags and shoes. Worst case return. Best case sorted my redemptions for the next year

  40. AviosHoarder Guest

On the shopping portal account dashboard, I have several items in the visit history, but my purchase history is empty. I made three separate purchases several hours ago before the link was taken down. Is this lag normal?

    1. V L Guest

Yes it is normal. It should appear in the purchase history within few days as pending, and paid within 45 days (if they honor it at all). If it does not show up in the history you can claim it as missing purchase and you will need to provide all order details and screenshots. Hopefully they will honor it, although I have my doubts.

    2. Iceman Bergkamp Guest

That’s very helpful, thank you. Same situation as AviosHoarder here…..my click history field is populated but the order history is empty after having placed the order late last night.

    3. V L Guest

I have not done BA before but used Wyndham- they all use the same back end. It took a few days to show as purchase.

  41. DaninMCI Guest

I think it just died a few minutes ago. I was on the site and tried to go back in through BA and Jetblue and it just errors out now. Someone in IT must have woke up to this deal.

    1. Steve Guest

Kate Spade currently does not appear on the shopping portal.

  42. FrozenKiwi Guest

Gave it a shot. Sent $1,006 to my parents house in Alaska… so no tax since it seems like the bonus points don’t count on that. Used capital one card so get 2,012 points there. I am visiting later this month and either resell or return back in my home state based if they honor it. 251,500 avios points can get me from The US to Africa nearly 3 one ways in QSuites… that’s a steal especially if I can make back even 25% resell!

  43. MJK Guest

    Isn't working for me anymore...

    1. FrozenKiwi Guest

Made the purchase and then went to confirm and I must have just made it in time because the click shows on the account but it’s now redirecting for me as well!

  44. stars New Member

I live in Australia. Does anyone know, if I purchase through the US shopping portal, which seems to direct me to the Kate Spade Australia website, would I still be eligible for the 250x points assuming the offer is honoured? Thanks.

    1. Scott Guest

I decided to give it a miss because of that exact reason, I figured it wouldn't have lodged the purchase.

  45. mickyb New Member

Is anyone else just getting redirected back to the Kate Spade page on the BA portal?

    1. MJK Guest

Yeah, it's not working for me anymore either. I just made a purchase through JetBlue to see if that one works.

  46. Slappy New Member

In for a $350 handbag. Hope these points post!

  47. Nikki Guest

Went in for two totes at $645. Doesn't show that I've yet to make a purchase in order history, but if it tracks for 161,250 miles...yay me. If not, looks like I'm spending 2 hours driving to return bags.

    1. Alex Guest

Free returns within 30 days. You can ship it back.

  48. David Guest

Currently tracked at 4x for me, time to see what happens

    1. prethive64 New Member

    3. mickyb New Member

Hm, feels like it's not worth pursuing then? Anyone disagree?

    4. Jay Guest

  52. OldGuy Member

You can't add things to your card and checkout is locked, at least for me.

  53. prethive64 New Member

Went for it. Have zero experience with the avios shopping portal but took the usual shopping portal precautions ( new browser profile with no extensions or plug-ins, clicked through once, added items to the cart, went back to the portal, clicked through to then buy). Made sure to screen record the purchase and pick returnable items. Fingers crossed now!

    1. tacrum43 Member

I did this too. Bought returnable items just in case. 0.4 cents per Avios point is too good to pass up, plus it is helping me meet a welcome bonus soend on my Alaska Atmos card. And Kate Spade does have some nice stuff - I’ve bought them before as gifts for female friends and family members. Seems like a win-win! But I have never used the BA shopping portal before, so we shall see what happens!

    2. prethive64 New Member

Update: it's only tracked at 4x for me. Oh well..

  54. AeroB13a Guest

Unfortunately I have managed to post the following message in a thread below by mistake. Apologies all round.

Thank you Ben, for highlighting this apparent nonsensical points scam. The more you illustrate how this points collection game pans out, the more convinced I become that it simply isn’t worth it for me.

Good luck to those who believe it to be worthwhile.

    1. TH Guest

Not a scam but if you don't feel it is worth it, then totally fair. Not sure you need to post to tell us that you're not interested but maybe useful to others who will agree with you.

    2. AeroB13a Guest

TH, if you care to actually read my post, you might well note that it is in fact a thank you massage address to Ben. The purpose was to acknowledge Ben’s contribution to my ongoing research into points for flights, etc.

The word “Scam” was used metaphorically.

I trust that this explanation maybe useful to you and others who will agree with you.

    3. TH Guest

Apologies. I thought you were criticising. My bad!

  55. Mike Guest

Anyone know how long it typically takes to get the points? I pulled the trigger on $1000, the US portal has an option to ship to Canada which was nice. Transferring the points to Qatar gets me a nice one way from MEL - YUL next year or a few transatlantic on Iberia.

    1. pranav Guest

Hey, I am from Toronto and pulled trigger for $800.
Did you purchase show under pending under purchase history on the avios page?

    2. Aaron Guest

Usually takes 5 days to see as pending, and ~35 days to post.

    3. Mike Guest

Thanks for this! And yeah, I’d be on the hook for the shipping back (and here I imagine), but a reasonable gamble for this amount of points. I have a lot of use for avios and being in Canada never get Amex transfer bonuses so this is huge.

    4. Ben Guest

It is not free return for Canada, you have to ship it back at customer cost...
      seems a bit risky.

    5. Pranav Guest

I think I can return it to kate spade store in toronto

    6. hbilbao Diamond

No, T&Cs explicitly say that Canadian customers must ship their items back to the US at their own expense.

  56. Imbisibol Guest

BA Avios can be transferred to Qatar Avios, right?

In for $500 crossing my fingers here!

My shopping cart is automatically adding a 15% promo to cart that I can’t remove. I’m worried this will give them further ammo to decline the miles/cash back as often you can’t have used other discount codes. Anyone else run into this?

  59. Mike A Guest

In for $1150 worth of handbags... we'll see what happens, but two multi-carrier 120k or 140k J awards would definitely be worthwhile if this pans out, even with the requisite taxes that BA inevitably will charge.

    1. Luis A Guest

I agree, I also just pulled the trigger with over $2K hopefully it works and they honor it, but the only hope so far is that my shopping ba portal shows a visit to kate spade in the history, but that's it, no purchase yet recorded...

In for 600$ lets see what happens

  61. PL Guest

Could I just buy a gift card? Or is that dumb because you can’t return it?

    1. Rufuss C. Kingston Guest

Worst, excluded specifically per the T&C's, so a double whammy!!

    2. Charles Guest

No, the terms and conditions explicitly exclude gift cards

Definitely dumb. Based on what they are offering, they are closing soon or refreshing their collection entirely

    5. MickyB Guest

It's dumb for a different reason - it's not eligible for the avios.

    6. TH Guest

If they renege on this offer then you are stuck with a gift card that you might only get 50% resale for. Better to buy something returnable.

  62. AAdmiral Guest

Just pulled the trigger on the offer. Spent $2086 x 250 avios is 521,500. Averages out to 0.004 cents per Avios. Worst case if they cancel the offer, we all get together and form a class action lawsuit.

    1. justindev Guest

      @AAdmiral,

Start the class action now coz from other posts I have seen, no one is being awarded x250 avios. You are all getting just 4x$1

    2. Lynn Bundy Guest

Seriously—I was already thinking this. We’d have MUCH more power as a single group of thousands or more. Even if their small print gives them an out—it might work. You can contact me if you like.

  63. mick Guest

I would absolutely go for this but it keeps redirecting me to Kate Spade in Australia even with location services off

  64. Allen Gold

BA is not the only portal currently offering unusually high rates per $ for Kate Spade. For example, Wyndham Rewards is offering 190 points per $, Virgin Atlantic is offering 152 points per $, and JetBlue is offering 126.5 points per $.

    1. Lynn Bundy Guest

If you’re savvy, would you mind saying which you think are more valuable & why, please? Or pros & cons of each?
      Geez—making you work huh?

    2. DaninMCI Guest

None seem to pull up in Cashbackmonitor but Evrewards shows certain stipulations on this. For example JetBlue is instore only. I was shocked to see Melia Rewards (hotel chain) at 615x which is shocking if it works out.

Almost decided to jump in (since items are available for local pickup), but ran some numbers and - meh.
So, I can get a few handbags for a total of $850 ($900 including tax). That will net 212K miles.

Quick search (never used Avios) shows a TATL business class ticket for 104K avios + $400. So, For $900 + 2 x $400 = $1700 I can (may be) get a business class TATL r/t...

Might be able to get $200 back by selling the bags on ebay (a quick search shows a glut of offerings of "new in box" Kate Spade merchandise on ebay at list prices less than 40% of the retail).

That is all pretty close to a cash price, and does not seem to make much sense to me.

    1. Ian Guest

Yeah, while true the value isn't in using it on BA awards but on partner awards. AA, Finnair, Cathay, Latam, etc are much better usages.

    2. Rufuss C. Kingston Guest

The base value is that you are paying .4 cents for let's say 1cent value points. While the value of redeeming on BA for TATL is suspect due to the fees (and you must be east coast based for such low fees), at least you got the points at half price more or less. Not counting the lack of mileage earning, usually paying $2000 or so for TATL r/t is a pretty good cash deal,...

Then you have intra-europa and AA/AS redemption opportunities, so the points can go a long way.

If you don't actively use avios already I wouldn't bother tbh. But I will say like all FF programs you have to learn their sweet spots. The real value of avios is not in long haul business redemptions, the taxes and fees they charge, esp on TATL flights, make it a terrible deal.

The real value of avios are in short to medium haul redemptions, esp within Europe, but also within Asia and North America. They have RFS pricing in Europe which caps the taxes and fees at a low rate (about $20 per one way economy flight). Availability is usually good and is very handy for flying to and from the UK short haul, esp at short notice.

    4. TH Guest

To add some color - I have probably booked 20+ BA short haul Europe flights in past 5 years for ~7k avios and $20 in taxes one way economy, or $15k avios and $30 taxes in business, when the cash price for these flights is often $400+.

Might not be useful for many but for me it is incredibly useful FF program for shorthaul flights in Europe (also with Cathay and JAL in Asia)

    5. Origami Guest

Well, I'd say a LOT of the value is long haul biz or first, just not on BA.

      212K means 1 r/t+ 1 one-way long haul on QR, but let's call it 2.5. $600 + $900 means $1500 for ~30 hours in biz total? No brainer.

    6. Rufuss C. Kingston Guest

And totally forgot that you can be moving these Avios around to Aer Lingus (or redeeming on them for low fees) and especially Qatar, so it is not liked you are locked into BA redemptions.

    7. TH Guest

True I just flew from LAX to DUB with Aer Lingus for 62k avios in business and $150 in taxes.

Do you usually get a confirmation email from BA saying portal purchase was made?

    1. Carl Guest

Don’t know, but would like to know how do we get confirmation that the purchase was tracked on BA shopping portal?

    2. UncleRonnie Diamond

We shop there a lot and only get a confirmation email 1/2 the time. Beware sometimes they take the points back without a good explanation too.

It can take up to 6 weeks to appear. Check your recent transaction on your Avios account.

  69. TH Guest

I tried to do a pickup order as I figured if they don't honor on the deal, I just wont pickup. But it wouldn't go through on checkout, it just kept failing with no error message. So i did a delivery order in the end. Probably will just have to return them (made sure none were final sale) but worth a punt. Worst case I waste an hour returning them at local mall. Best case I get 300k avios for $1000 and can resell the items for hopefully $300-$500.

    1. TH Guest

also i picked items that were not marked as "excluded from promotion" was hard to find non-final sale items that were not excluded from promotion but I did

    2. Sergio Turbay Guest

The excluded from promotion was not for the BA offer. It’s something else. As I made sure I logged on from a different non connected browser without having click the link and showed the same message. I think that was for the 15% discount. Which you also needed to avoid as per the terms and conditions at BA.

    3. Rufuss C. Kingston Guest

What non final sale items did you get to show without the exclusion note? I'm only seeing cheaper items.

    4. TH Guest

      i bought bags e.g. https://www.katespade.com/products/do-it-all-large-tote/KL669.html?frp=KL669+BLK&fromSearch=Do%20It%20All%20Large%20Tote

    5. TH Guest

Wont let me post a link but look at handbags e.g. "Do It All Large Tote"

    6. DSK Member

Thank you TH! I just purchased one for my wife. I have been a heavy user of Avios, and my BA balance has dropped from hundreds of thousands to 403, so definitely worth a shot!

    7. AeroB13a Guest

Thank you Ben, for highlighting this apparent nonsensical points scam. The more you illustrate how this collection game pans out, the more convinced I become that it simply isn’t worth it for me.
Good luck to those who believe it to be worthwhile.

  70. Erik Guest

In for the ride. Low risk fun

  71. John Guest

I thought about it, but decided against it. BA will almost certainly walk this back - too easy under US law to say you made a mistake, even with all the screenshots as evidence. I’d want to spend $5-10k to make it worthwhile. I agree, if you live near KS then it’s a shot to nothing, but it’s possible posting might take longer than the return policy allows. And it’s not clear under US law...

And it’s not clear under US law that BA couldn’t still claim a mistake (harder if they post the Avios but still possible). It took me over a year to get BA to pay a watertight EU261, so will be shocked if they pay out - unless they close it up when the UK wakes up and sees this posted in the morning and only a few take advantage. The AA case was different for many reasons. I would avoid the items that say excluded from promotion.

  72. Susan Guest

Went for it for $800. I live near a Kate Spade store so if they don't honor, I'll just return them...thanks for the tip!

    1. Rufuss C. Kingston Guest

Did you check to see if it said "Excluded from Promotion"? I only see FINAL SALE items as not saying this once viewing my cart....

    2. Susan Guest

I did, and the items I bought were not FINAL SALE

    3. Rufuss C. Kingston Guest

Actually, I should have stated that more expensive items ($200+) showed excluded, not like cheaper necklaces. What did you buy that
      "worked"?

    4. Susan Guest

2x $400 deco quilted purses. Some colors were excluded and some were not.

  73. Anon Guest

Just can't help myself... put in a couple of speculative purchases. We will see

  74. TS Guest

Took a shot, worth it for a couple hundred

  75. Robert Guest

I’m trying… any item I place in the cart has a highlighted message saying “Excluded from Promotion.” Not sure if this is generic referring to discount codes people may have, or this particular discount as arrived at via logging in from BA’s shopping portal. Anyone know?

    1. Rufuss C. Kingston Guest

I am only getting FINAL SALE items to show up without it saying Promotion excluded....

    2. MJK Guest

It's some other kind of promotion. If you go to the website in another browser without any link to the BA Portal the "Excluded from Promotion" is still there.

  76. 1990 Guest

An extra '!' would've really sold that title!!!!

Filing a claim with the shopping portal most likely is not going to lead to anything. Following the link to file for missing avios for shopping on ba.com redirects to the same site where the shopping portal is located. I am wondering if it would make sense to reach out to the British Airways Club (which is a suggested option on ba.com for other cases when the avios are missing from the other partner activities) Found this on ba.com The British Airways Club Please use your dedicated contact details below. Please choose a country from the drop-down menu below to find the contact details of our worldwide offices. United States of America By phone Tel: 1 800 452 1201 (from the USA) Fax: +1 212 251 6767 Daily 0730-2000 Eastern By post The British Airways Club 11 West 42nd Street 24th Floor New York, NY 10036 If BA gets involved there is higher change of the positive resolution, as my guess is that BA is not really involved in this process, and only selling avios. But their name is on the line here as the portal is white labeled as theirs. May make sense to call and talk to them and see what they say.
