In July 2025, Virgin Atlantic revealed plans to introduce Starlink Wi-Fi, an announcement that coincided with plans to overhaul the Boeing 787 cabins. There’s now an exciting update, as Virgin Atlantic has shared that it has completed installation of the service on one aircraft type. That’s great, though now we’ll have to be patient for…

Complete game changer TATL. The JFK-LHR morning flight is on a 787 - so once that gets starlink later this year, why not take the daytime flight? Can easily take conference calls from 9am-3pm NY time while in the air. Feels like Premium Economy will be ideal for this versus the 787 business class.

As far as I know Virgin does not ban zoom calls - and BA now is expressly allowing it?

Junk think : one can now sing-along with the vile rap music , and entertain those around one . Like having a boom-box on the New York subway . Bliss .

One won't hear the sedate business call , because one will be drowned out by the screeching demanding loudmouth in the next seat .

Why is every flight reviewer obsessed with starlink Wi-Fi? Believe it or not, it is quite possible to take a 7 hour flight or even a 15 hour flight without texting, or watching YouTube or making a zoom call. I have done it many times. And I will do my best to avoid any airline that allows onboard phone calls

@ Josh -- I don't think just "flight reviewers" care. Virgin Atlantic says Wi-Fi uptake has increased from 10% to 75%, so it seems like you're in the minority by not caring. But of course I respect your desire to disconnect, and think that's great.

Does it feature Grok that automatically translates emails and texts to make you sound racist?

VS prohibits video calls, you can have voice only and must use headphones.

Many people have work stuff to do as well during flight. Many business travelers. It isn't just for watching YouTube.

So turn the camera off. Once voice calls are allowed, the rest is just a slippery slope, and if their biggest competitor doesn't care (BA), hard to imagine once Starlink is installed VS will really care - video just uses limited bandwidth.
