During my Aria Suite Adventure to Hong Kong, I had an extended layover at London Heathrow Terminal 3, as I was arriving in British Airways business class, and connecting to Cathay Pacific business class. During my time at the airport I checked out some lounges, starting with the Qantas Lounge.

Has this lounge been remodeled? It looks nicer than I recall from my visit 5-6 years ago.
@ uldguy -- Best I could tell, nothing has changed compared to pre-pandemic, so I don't think there have been changes. I could be mistaken, though.
It is incredible how GOOD their LHR lounge is and how BAD their 'flagship' Business Class lounge is in SYD. I believe part of this is down to the LHR lounge being a hybrid First-Business Class facility.
Will be interesting to see if the high levels of catering and service continue next year when QF opens a new separate First Class lounge at LHR.
I visited this lounge recently in the early morning on a trip to Osaka flying Finnair. It was relaxing and peaceful, but got busier by the time I left. Good breakfast selection. Managed to secure one of the window seats. Agree with you that the Cathay lounge is the better option. Brighter, with big windows and views. Overall it’s one of the minor perks of having to endure T3.
The first class section was supposed to open in 2023. I'll believe it when I see it. As for the current state of the lounge, while its layout is not quite as "post-modern industrial" as the first class lounge at LAX, it can be quiet and relaxing. At T3, *the* lounge is Cathay Pacific . . . the BA lounges are unremarkable. . . and, the Amex lounge is just as disappointing as any located in the US.
Pretty lounge. The sparkling Australian wine served was excellent. Wish it could be purchased in the US. Did not eat at the restaurant as it could not accommodate our family of 5. Buffet was minimal and just okay.
Cathy’s lounge is the best by far. Great food and variety of food options and extremely comfortable.
BA’s lounge is mediocre at best with food.
American’s lounge is an absolute joke.
I think a lot of moves are in the works so I doubt any airlines want to do anything until LHR finishes this piece of work;
The only good thing about the AA lounge is it tends to be rather empty at times, so good if you want some peace and quiet and a guaranteed seat lol
When I'm at LHR T3, I normally go to the CX lounge for food, then over to QF.
I haven't been in the T3 BA lounges since QF moved out into their own lounge.
I've only been to the AA lounge once, and that was only because I was on an AA flight to LAX which had become delayed and there would be more information about the delay at the AA lounge then at the QF or CX lounges.
No, it hasn't changed since it was opened.
There is a refit and upgrade due, with a split into 2 class based lounges (ie, a new First class lounge), but when that is happening hasn't been confirmed. It was meant to be under construction now.
Interesting. I have not been to the Heathrow T3 for at least 2,3 years, but back then I thought Qantas had better food than Cathay...
Is the gin bar gone? It seems to be there as part of a picture of the dining area. I should go check the status this evening.
I'm surprised that the Cathay Pacific lounge would be preferred. I remember thinking the food there was sub-par - what tasted like instant noodles and frozen dim sum.
Was there in June 2025 and the food was very poor. I ended up going to the Cathay lounge to get something edible.
I agree with you John about the food. I found the afternoon selection to be extremely disappointing….almost a joke actually. Lots of carb-dense pasta and potato dishes..very unappealing. Almost as bad as the neighboring BA lounge. Also found the small elevator to be slow…quite a line of people waiting.
Excellent lounge, friendly and helpful staff. Good very good.
Used in May 2026 during London, Singapore Auckland trip with Qantas.
Food selection good, wine selection good. No complaints. Plenty of space, power points etc.
