Review: EVA Air Lounge Bangkok Airport (BKK)

" lighting between a strip club and space themed Disney" ? EVA just needs to throw some Hello Kitty in that mix.

I guess the way to go is to eat at the Thai Airways lounge and then relax in the EVA lounge in BKK

EVA has downgraded the F&B offerings in a major way at both the BKK and TPE lounges in the past one year.

What seems to be missing?

I don't notice any downgrades from over a year ago.

Did a BKK Star Alliance lounge safari in mid-January before flying HS-THQ (TG’s Star Alliance-liveried A350) to CGK in J. The BR lounge was easily the least memorable of the four, décor aside. This gets at the fact that BR is hardly as stellar an airline on the ground as it is in the air, at both TPE and BKK. Also, BR never, ever advertises itself or runs any marketing campaigns, and the quality of English leaves much to be desired — unlike its cross-strait rival CX, whose Westernised branding is impeccable.

At least there’s plenty of real estate at BKK to work with, unlike its TPE home, where both Terminal 1 and 2 have historically been heavily constrained, and none of BR’s four lounges are especially top-class. Hopefully the new TPE T3 will have much better space for BR as well as other airline lounges. Meanwhile, the BKK facility looks like just a cookie-cutter lounge, without any X-factor like the TK lounge’s free massage.

Contrast this with the China Airlines lounge at the airport. This is oddly one of my favorite lounges in the world. It's tiny, but the service and food quality is EXCELLENT. Made to order thai tea, how can you go wrong with that?! There was a genuine warmness to the lounge which I think is such a hard quality to capture. I didn't even mind there were no bathrooms in the lounge, it was nice to stretch your legs and walk downstairs to the closest public ones. Can't recommend enough if you have access to enter.

The food used to be the best amongst Star A lounges save the live cooking station at the TG lounge.

The wine selection, even this time last year, was far superior.

Again, the quality of spirits on offer, in a business lounge is never going to satisfy the connoisseur. But they used to offer better whiskeys than they do right now.

That's right. I did exactly that on a recent visit to BKK.

Ben didn't show it, but the showers at the EVA lounge are spotlessly clean and usually readily available too.

How can you rate the food available in these lounges when it seems you don't actually eat anything? Just looking at the spread doesn't give anyone an idea about whether the food is actually tasty or not.

Uhhh....no. the Eva lounge at bkk is like a disco club. The lighting is annoying and glaring....it's all over....floors, walls, ceiling. It's not a calm environment....and yes it does have actual windows to see outside vs sing or Thai lounge but these windows do very little. Also....the drink and food is dubpar compared to sing|Thai lounges.....and NO.....this lounge is rarely empty ....I LIVE in Bangkok and fly to\from US and JA
Japan monthly .......I know the bkk lounges.....Eva has good lounges elsewhere like TPE, but bkk is weird ......bring your dancing shoes, and your bell bottoms.....put in your ear buds and crank up the disco music and get dancin at this lounge cuz the lighting is provided.

I did a lounge-a-palooza recently exiting BKK and found the EVA lounge to be my favorite. It was stylish, not overly crowded, had wonderful food, and was extremely comfortable. Not sure why you didn't enjoy it more! Its my fav in Bangkok now, well with the exception of the Coral Lounge in BKK domestic which has this awesome crab curry soup that is to die for!

Ben, quit the use of 'boasting'. It is only used in marketing speak or specific contexts, none of which are useful for you.

It reveals your linguistic environment: you talk and read and hear only commercial English on a daily basis, to the point where you think this is how English is used to convey meaning between people.

While we certainly understand what you mean, it really makes you look like a try-hard.
