For the next sector of my Iceland to The Residence via Cambodia trip, it was time to fly Aer Lingus’ A321LR AerSpace on the 80-minute flight from Paris (CDG) to Dublin (DUB). For those not familiar, AerSpace is Aer Lingus’ premium seating on regional flights.

Thank you once again for an interesting flight review Ben. Being on an AirBus narrow body aircraft, the business cabin seat looks to be worth a squirt.
So it's basically an economy soft product with a long haul business hard product. Interesting concept
@ Larry F -- It's not consistently on any particular route, but it does seem to fly to LHR and CDG a lot. The airline is pretty reliable when it comes to not swapping planes, so what you book should end up being accurate.
I was on AerSpace flights between Berlin and Dublin and they were not that good. The first row has no legroom and you are butted up against the bulkhead. I would have had more leg room on an emergency row. I had a lukewarm toasty and a coffee which would have sucked had I paid for it. It was part of a TATL J ticket. The only good thing was it came with lounge access in both Dublin and Berlin and the Berlin lounge was very nice.
That’s because they don’t use the A321s to Berlin, you were on one of their A320s. They basically utilise the A321s during the morning to nearby cities before they go on their way across the Atlantic but the fleet isn’t that big at 13 aircraft so they can’t use them to all cities in their European network.
It’s not about the business model, it’s about aircraft utilisation. The main usage for the A321s is on routes across the Atlantic but instead of them sitting in Dublin or Shannon until the late morning/afternoon EI uses them on select flights to European cities. However the A321 is not used for all flights on any European routes, with the A320 being used far more - no flatbed seats on these.
