LATAM 787 Business Class: A Well-Rounded Experience

I fly to peru like 2-3 times a year, in this seat on LATAM. its complete trash. so narrow and the footwells feel like a coffin. The older latam 787 business class is where its at.

I take Latam quite often and agree with your points. The experience is even better with the 777 as they are the same seats in a wider plane. Flight attendants are… diverse. Some time they are great some time not. Definitely prefer Latam to AA or UA

Now that you’re in South America, please, please, please review Gol and/or Azul as soon as you can! I’ve heard they’re miles above AM and AV, though they’re hardly known even in the Hispanosphere, never mind the US.

And how about your Boliviana obsession? And Vistara?

I've had a variety of good experiences on LATAM, Especially our 2012 trip to Easter Island. Where ive had issues is, 1: Delta bookings on LATAM, Delta will allow you to select a seat but that frequently doesn't actually translate to LATAM. I had a large group of 8 travelling in March and they scattered us all over business class including my 5 and 8 year olds. The crew did their absolute best to resolve the situation and some kind passengers moved, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. 2: SCL and LIM are easy to connect in but GRU is not, i really hate connecting there. 3: LATAM is a constant reminder that Delta missed the boat on not ordering 789's.

Have flown LATAM extensively and always have found it to be solid, consistent, and quite good, in Business Class and in Economy, on both short-haul and long haul flights. My only bad experience was on LATAM Argentina, which no longer exists, on a flight from AEP to Bariloche. 3.5 hour delay, rude staff, and a stifling hot plane, but having flown them 20 or more times, that was my only bad experience. It is a much better airline than AA and UA to Latin America and way better than DL.

Why do airlines love staggered business class seating so much? Is it actually that much more efficient than herringbone? From the passenger perspective, I see no advantages to it.

I’m on a 787-8 flying LAX-SCL J on LATAM right before Xmas. I’d this the same hard product? Bedding /meals?

Just flew LA to Santiago on LATAM and loved the experience! Flight attendants were amazing and genuinely wanted us to have a great experience. Agree about the bedding even though I got a little hot with the thick blanket. Also, I absolutely love the LATAM lounge at SCL. One of the best lounges anywhere!

no. I believe all 787-8s have a 2-2-2 config. Still comfortable but not as private.

Mix the crab appetizer with the side salad and you are good to go.

You could also add some of the salmon to the salad 😉

Even though LAN Argentina is no longer flying, I flew them BA-Iguazu and back then BA-Mendoza and had a much better experience than if I took Aerolineas Argentinas. For domestic flights, I thought it was a very positive experience. The flight to Mendoza was delayed and meal vouchers were given at check in. In flight services exceeded expectations.

My experience with LATAM is not great. Took a 3 hour domestic flight out of Santiago, and for the first two hours all cabin crew gathered at the front of the cabin and served themselves lunch. Then at the 2 hour 20 mark, they made a cursory pass of the cabin with water (and not even a snack). They could not have given less of a shxt. Also as an FYI - their domestic lounge in Santiago is an embarrasment. I walked in and out again and got a drink in the terminal.

You need to post menus and wine lists. Was it actually champagne?

Like you are on top of each other. For the price this is not a good representation of business class. I won’t fly them again unless I have no other option. That said… the crew were really good.
