Why do cruise ships always list their tonnage? Is the figure supposed to influence my decision making in some way?
Nice photo of then Pitons in St. Lucia, but looks a bit Photoshopped. Like, to get that view, you’d need to be up at Jade Mountain, or Anse Chastanet (you know, the cheap seat).

Ben, Nice article about the experience on this luxury cruise line, but there is one significant error. Cruise ship tonnage (sometimes called gross tonnage) is —despite the term — not a measure of weight, but rather a measure of a ship’s internal volume. One gross ton is equivalent to 100 cubic feet or 2.83 cubic meters of enclosed space. (The weight of a cruise ship is called displacement.)

You should note that on most, though not all, voyages, you do not have to pay 200% if you're travelling alone. You can in fact get a 50% discount.
