Also the issue to me is that availability at the hard to find resorts doesn't always open at the start of the schedule. And that's assuming that the rate isn't extortionate.
Give me longer to use an earned award instead. Hate that Cat 1-7 awards expire after 6 months. While we are at it, make the Globalist award 1-8.
Why restrict this to only Explorist and Globalist? Anyone with Discoverist is at least to some degree trying to be loyal to Hyatt and its not like there’s a huge “cheat” to get Discoverist that isn’t already included in this benefit (cobrand cardholders). It just seems like non-business traveler loyalty is completely disregarded.
Tell me I'm not crazy - I can currently (and have been for the last several years) been able to book awards up to 13 months in advance. So is the change that only elite members and credit card holders will be able to use the current window and everyone else's availability is getting cut to 12 months?

That's so funny for me, timing-wise, because I called Chase this a.m. (literally six hours ago) and cancelled my Hyatt credit card. I won't be reupping for it just for this new "enhancement." And if I do, more bonus points for me, I guess.

Curious as to the reason. As the Hyatt card always strikes as one of those cards to, like the old IHG Select, to at least put in a drawer and just enjoy the free night cert every year
Things are so bad, they had to throw a bone. Not bad. But wish they would provide elite level availability only throughout their calendar.

The policy change tells me that they're wringing more profit from their co-branded credit card holders than they are from their Globalist members, and that those members should expect further erosion to the benefits of their status while credit card customers are treated increasingly more favourably.

75k for rooms that used to cost 45k, and since it's peak season the "resort" PHs in the middle of a capital city won't have late checkout available either for your stay. Letting co-brand card holders have access to this "perk" also hugely devalues it.
These programs can no longer alter my stay pattern. If I happen to stay I'll get some points, but seeing as how uncompetitive these chain hotels are on the high end, it's going to be a lot more FS and independent luxury hotels going forward.

Actually up to 85k at AIs like Impression Moxche and Impression Isla. Both are highly competitive. Remember when Impression Moxche was “mispriced” at 25k?
More of a technical question but I'm curious how they will be able to tell you have a Hyatt credit card when searching for an award. Will you have to add it to the card in your profile for it to trigger the search?
Hi, good question.
The reason is that I just won't be using Hyatt enough anymore, plus the hotel cert. is only for lower category hotels. I've given them away for the last three years, but if I don't need to pay an annual fee for a cert. that I'm not going to use, and Hyatt is turning into the Southwest Airlines of hotels, then I have tons of other options, whether independent hotels or luxury chains (Pen, M-O, FS, Capella, etc.).
I'll still use Park Hyatt sometimes if they're the only luxury brand in a city I'm visiting (indeed I have PH stays booked out for the rest of the year already), but I don't need the Hyatt card for that when I can book through, say, Citi, and get 10x points that are transferrable.
How about something tangible for globalists, such as a welcome amenity or free soft drinks when there is no club lounge?

That said, I increasingly wouldn't mind seeing PH killed off as a brand.

I pulled the trigger on a week-long stay at the HH Anaheim for the end of August 2026 (this year) on August 4, 2025. This isn't an improvement.
If anything, this is a devaluation of that for non-elites/non-CC holders and someone at HQ decided to outright lie.
The credit card is already tied to your WoH account, so the system knows you have it as long as you're logged in.
I think really what's changing is non elites WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO BOOK 12+ months out. But that sounds negative so they spin it differently (foolishly)
So your 1 booking a year out at a Hyatt House is proof that super hard to book places like PH Kyoto and Alila Ventana will not be any easier as they are already easy to book a year out?

Award availability is not always available far in advance - sometimes the hotel waits until nearby venues determine dates for certain events before releasing.
I think odds are that if it's a hotel where you think you NEED to book that far in advance to guarantee a free room, the hotel is going to drag their feet on making all their award bookings available, and the early access won't really be of any significant benefit.

You could already book 13 months in advance. Sometimes a little over 13 months. So this sounds like made up benefit and a restriction on those not globalist or card holders. I've been cooking 13 months in advance for years, sometimes slightly more. The website was less adept than the app at doing it. The app always let you and to this day still lets you even though this "benefit" has been released.

Other bloggers have written that Hyatt used to allow everyone to do this so this amazing new benefit is neither amazing nor new, just restrictive for non-elites or credit card holders.

When Hyatt goes fully dynamic, 13th-month-pricing will likely be similar to that of other programs. That is, out-month pricing is inordinately high and recedes to intended market pricing after a couple/few weeks. So, while it might be of marginal practical utility now, I'll guess that utility will evaporate when prices go dynamic.

Unforeseen demand spikes after inventory releases is lost revenue to Hyatt (& their props) as their redemption rates are statik upon release.

imo we're not paying thru the nose but losing outsized point redemption value. With Hyatt earn now even less relevant, status becomes less aspirational for heavier travelers.

What's annoying about that property is how frequently there's just no availability (at any points price).
What a yawn. And likely a scam. Rates will likely be higher for those with Hyatt cobranded cards. And many properties will reserve most of their true award availability (to keep rates up).

This is a welcome update! Question: I'm planning to book an in-demand property the day it becomes available. My full stay is 7 nights, but I worry that, as the stay falls over Christmas, if I wait until the full stretch is available, the earlier nights will be gone.
Can I book one night at a time as they become available, and then somehow merge them after via the Globalist concierge? Thanks!
