Nothing else matters
The 2pm check out and bottled water is better than nothing. Never had an upgrade as a Discoverist or Explorist. Did with Globalist but I don't stay at Hyatts enough now to re-qualify.
I wish Hyatt had a premium care like Hilton Aspire but I'm sure they wouldn't give away Globalist without a ton of spend.
My hope is for Hyatt to offer an extremely premium card ($2,995 annual fee) that includes Globalist, 5 free nights a year (Category 1-7), and 10 one-day passes to the AA Admirals Club per the Hyatt/AA partnership.
Never stay enough (or charge enough) to make Globalist since retired and also Marriott Lifetime Titanium. Caesars Diamond Plus and almost 30 year Hilton Diamond so pretty much stay where ever I want (and usually book Amex FHR properties if not staying on a FNC, points or a casino comp). However, have made Explorist the past few years. IMHO, outside of the additional FNC for hitting 30 points there is practically zero difference in Discoverist and Explorist. This year I am likely not to focus much on Hyatt and will fall back to Discoverist which is just fine with me. If I traveled on business and stayed in locations with nicer Hyatts I would go for Globalist but retired and frankly run into more Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties than higher end so not worth the effort IMHO
I've mentioned this before on OMAAT, but last year, on a 5-week trip to Japan and Korea as a Hyatt Discoverist, I got access to the club lounge on my first stop (Tokyo). I don't know why - I didn't request it - but it was certainly a nice perk. At my next Hyatt stop, I mentioned to the clerk that I had been upgraded to the Club Lounge at the previous Hyatt. A conversation with the manager (who I don't think believed me and so checked with the Tokyo Hotel) got me a similar upgrade. That manager was not to be outdone by his Tokyo counterpart.
And so it went for most of my trip. If the hotel had no lounge, they gave me complimentary breakfast. Not to be the ugly American, I was polite and appropriately grateful at each of these hotels. I can't imagine this kind of hotel rivalry happening anywhere else.
