We had same room on lower floor on our one stay (no status at time). We really enjoyed the hotel and the care we received here was part of the factor to switch from Hilton to Hyatt.
The Hilton SNA you cam be checked in within 10 minutes if you walk rather than wait on the shuttle.
Ashame the restaurant wasn't open earlier. I would imagine others would be in the same "early flight" situation?
@ Christian -- Agree, their restaurant only opens at 6:30AM. I've always thought airport hotel restaurants should open a bit earlier.
The end of the trip report? I feel like my vicarious vacation is over! Where are we going next? 😉
@ Peter -- We're just getting started! Tomorrow we're going to Budapest and Catania in Lufthansa first class, and then to Bali in Cathay Pacific first. Stay tuned. 😉
It's not quite in the US, but the Fairmont in Vancouver's airport has both amazing airport and mountain views as well as solid sound insulation and really nice rooms. Plus, it's a quick escalator ride down to the US check-in for those early flights.
Nice review... I've always stayed at the Regency due to the price point... as you mentioned. Speaking of Hyatt, can you do a post regarding the summer Hyatt Credit Card offer to current cardholders? The offer is to earn 12,000 bonus points after spending $10,000 between July 1 and August 31. Looks good on the surface but is it worth it to put the spend on the Hyatt card versus other products out there? Thanks!
@ Mary Beth -- That's a great promotion! Sadly it's targeted, and I didn't get the offer. Boo! Assuming you do quite a bit of spend I'd say it's a great offer to take advantage of. For example, you ordinarily earn 2x points per dollar on dining on the Hyatt card, so if you can stack with an additional 12,000 points when spending $10,000 I'd say that's a fantastic deal.
Or for example if you have to make a big quarterly tax payment and want to use a service like payusatax.com, you'd be paying a ~1.9% fee. If you made a $10,000 payment with the card you'd earn 22,000 points, so I'd say that's a fantastic deal.
Sorry to hear you didn't get the offer. Boo hiss!! I guess I'm not spending enough on the card and this is encouragement to put more spend on it. Thanks for your suggestions.
I like the Westin at detroit also as one of the better airport hotels. I have stayed at the hyatt dfw also. The westin is nice since it has its own security to enter the terminal.
Another vote for the Fairmont YVR... although I'm a bit biased being from Vancouver - wait that should make me less inclined to stay there!!
It has a full serve restaurant and bar with gorgeous mountain views. I've even stopped here for dinner on my way back from travels at times. It's also perfect for early USA departures.

The Hyatt Grand at DFW is one of the great airport hotels; in a class by itself. One thing to know: the windows in the rooms on one side of the building are floor to ceiling, the other side not. And one is closer to the tarmac.
