This hotel was built in 2009 and last renovated (a very light renovation) in 2018. So, it's overdue for an exhaustive renovation. Right now, the room looks like a Holiday Inn Express or Four Points by Sheraton.
The hotel was already pretty mediocre value back when it was a Novotel. Don’t look forward to how overpriced it would be once rebranded as a Hyatt Regency…
I have an early flight out on 1/15. I was going to stay in HP New Taipei but will switch to this if they open reservations then.
To clarify, the airport hotel has its own train (metro) station, which is not the same as the train (metro) stations for TPE T1 and TPE T2, which are 2 separate stations. TPE T3 will get another station when it opens.
The hotel actually had a free shuttle bus to and from TPE that I used earlier this month when did a pre-flight night there.
Crap hotel. Crap airport with crap lounges. EVA and Starlux are good airlines, but can’t make up for the lousy ground experience. Don’t fly China Airlines if you value your safety.
Starlux's new T2 lounge is really good, much better than their old small T1 lounge, have you actually been there?
Also EVA's Garden lounge for their Diamond members is very good. It's hard to access because it's for their top tier elites, but that's part of what makes it good.

This is my thought direction and concern, too. They probably make the hotel a little nicer but charge disproportionally more. Hope I am proven wrong.
@Jack Are you okay? Taoyuan airport is actually pretty good. I don’t care much for BR but I think CI is pretty good and I have heard good things about JX. So then basically it is like you are saying UA, AA and DL are terrible airlines and don’t fly them. And how there are unimpressive airports in the U.S. Like how or what is your criteria then. Did you have a bad experience in Taiwan?
It's not a great hotel, but Cat 2 makes it a solid redemption for those with early flights.
Taoyuan is mediocre on a good day, crap on a bad. At least it's not crazily overrated like Changi.
Airlines itself are good.
I stayed there back in August for a quick overnight layover. Thought the hotel was good. The massive model airplane collection in the lobby was fun to visit.
Wouldn’t recommend this hotel even at the low price it usually is. I’m surprised how run down and dirty a hotel in hotel could be in East Asia, from a major chain, but here we are.
Very disappointing that there are no other airport hotels or hotels within 15 minutes drive that provide shuttle to and from TPE.
Crap lounges? Maybe if you haven’t tried the Garden. Also, they have a solid beef noodle soup in a Priority Pass lounge (Oriental Club). I’ll read that again: something you actually want to eat in Priority Pass. I can’t find any PP lounge in America or Japan that I’d want to voluntarily nom something at.
