To coincide with this, the Abu Dhabi-based carrier has also rolled out improvements to its first class product, especially on the ground.

That’s that Garuda Indonesia kind of service. At least, back when they were still making money. Too bad you can’t sample this since they blocked your Etihad Guest account?

I just bought a return ticket Copenhagen-Bangkok in February, the new A321LR in both directions. Business was ~2.000USD, with the new first only ~300 extra in each direction. Was quite surprised the additional price was that low!

Going to go on a limb here and say that Ben’s account has been or shortly will be unblocked. Also pretty confident that should he wish to sample this, he will be able to, with or without his account

Since this is only for expensive cash fares, Ben doesn't need rewards account reinstated to go for this.

Now I am curious as to what Etihad has in mind with first class. Surely one would think that they’d want to expand it across more of their wide body fleet. The product will surely bring in further revenue. Thanks for the article.

seems like they're pricing the seat as "business plus" as well. Congratulations!

Hopefully 'Etihad Concierge' is more than familiar/experienced with the concept of IROPS...
And it looks like they've already contracted that 'Delta Premium Bundling Contagion' and beaten them to the punch on. implementation ! Kinda ironic to have different 'castes' appearing in the best/ultimate first class experience.... But anything for the almighty dirham !

Home check in can be quite useful for high end customers in UAE. Maybe you see this dumb but rich Arabs do not think like Ben. So calling it dumb is a bit too self centric... I would use it if I had the opportunity so that I don't have to deal with the airport stuff. Just wake up and get in the car and head to the security and then lounge...

Why is home check-in 'dumb'?

It's a service I'd happily use for any of my flights if I could.

In the good old pre Covid days you had Chauffeur service both ends of the flight and it was provided on redemption tickets in 1st.
Offering in only to top bracket revenue ticket holders is hardly exciting but I suppose welcome to some.

I just flew Etihad F, round trip from CDG-AUH, in reward seats. Received chauffeur service on each leg in Abu Dhabi, and my destination was 2 1/2 hours away.

It is only on the AUH side. On the outpost side then I guess services are similar to business class. This is also no different than other airlines first experience.
