well, yes, these were federal regulation changes.

and a former DL pilot was a previous FAA administrator so I am sure a few DL pilots have played at one or more of Trump's golf courses.

Well that is an airline conundrum!

Congratulations to Delta for being American valued, and America proud.

Pro Presidential Trump should not be controversial at all after seeing what a crap hole America has become over the years under Democrat failed non-leadership and DEI wokei-ism, polluting United States culture and values.

Mark Levin would call it Democrat Marixism but I am being gentle and non-controversial. Congrats again to an airline doing a solid.

Is it just me or do US Americans not see, how 1 Guy is trying to "brainwash" an entire Nation like Germans had done (and at Lufthansa Group still get done today ;-o) and have NOT learned from the past.
Sounds like too much America is NOT good, but thankfully America is not the same as US, for those who are a bit too patriotic!
Mexico is still part of the American continent, so . . . nothing to get to excited about. MAGA Trump didn't think far enough, to call it Gulf of US America, so no big deal as both countries are on the American continent.
Wonder, how long it takes for all those folks in the US to find out, that this Guy is SOOOO BAD for the entire travel industry and economics all over on things, that he has absolutely No inside knowledge, as a matter of fact, he failed on ALL his attempts when it comes to travel business, so maybe it's time "his" people finally understand that MAGA could also mean: "May America gain again" ... becoming the old power it once was, because right now, things don't look too good! 😮
Mostly, thanks to 1 Guy.
So, DON'T follow blindly! THINK TWICE.

DELTA is part of America, but still a US airline!
See, it DOES make a difference. America is not just USA. 😮

"Notice to Air Missions" makes greater logical sense when Uncrewed Aircraft System missions are taken into account. But we all know this change was not about logic.

no, they cannot import them to the US but they also don't need to as long as they do not fly domestic missions.

Further evidence that United is the airline of respectable, upstanding coastal liberals, while Delta remains fundamentally conservative, Southern (derogatory), non-premium, and has hubs in Tier C flyover cities.

United is America's flag carrier and represents the best of our country; Delta is low-class and inherently right wing.

I think FAA should prevent these A350's from flying into the US at all. Make Delta import the planes and pay the tariff

Meanwhile to every other civilised country and SkyTeam member, it’s the Gulf of Mexico and notice to airmissions. Any country that has Cankles Mctaco face as president and a complete loon in charge of health should be avoided. That said, other countries should mandate Americans provide proof of vaccinations.
The pandemic that was the Spanish flu began in Kansas and was spread my military travelling to Europe. So called Spanish as Spain wasn’t in WW1 and was able to report on the pandemic as the press there wasn’t censored.

Mexico and the United States have roughly the same amount of shore around the Gulf. Mexico and the United States are part of North America. Trump did not suggest renaming it the Gulf of the United States. But the change is the Gulf of America. Actually makes more sense. But if Trump suggests it it must be wrong. That is what they mean by TDS. Not approving of a leader or liking them is cool but hating everything they do just because of dislike does not make sense. Names of landmarks are changed all the time around the world

An international body of water is not a landmark. Also thinking anyone that disagrees with you is "deranged" is very normal and cool. I'm sorry that your relatives no longer speak to you that must be difficult.

@Winston, There is no reason to say relatives no longer speak to me. Most agree with me on this. I never said anything disrespectful. Just made a comment about how people overreact to the current president on anything he says. I don't agree with many things he says or does but I happen to agree with the naming of the Gulf of America vs the Gulf of Mexico because we share it and we are both part of North America. Then why call it the Gulf of Mexico.

Mark, Mark, Mark...

The TDS is strong with this one. By pedophile, do you mean the ex-president who used to shower with his teen daughter? She wrote about i in her book, after all. Maybe the ex-president who enjoyed sniffing young children? It's on video, after all. Gee, what would his name be? Um, Biden??? Yeah, that's it, Joe Biden!

Trump actually banned Epstein from his properties after learning of how he was treating his staff, and actually helped get one of Epstein's former employees a job after being canned by that sicko. Yes, the two were contemporaries, but then Epstein was a contemporary of Biden, Obama, and half of Hollywood. There is ZERO evidence that Trump ever participated in anything untoward like you are suggesting, unless one buys into the Steele Dossier. You know, the one that Hillary Clinton funded? Yeah, that one.

I'm hardly a hard core Trump supporter. I find his methods questionable and I really dislike the meanness that he often displays. However, I also intensely dislike it when people toss around unfounded allegations that are demonstrably false. Be better, Mark.

There are more important things going on . Nothing to end the war in Ukraine. Gaza. But Trump has priorities. Historically the gulf has had multiple names and the Gulf of Mexico since 1550. For everywhere else in the world it’s the Gulf of Mexico.

Notice to air missions was purely a woke nonsense change in the first place. "Inclusive" terms would be never ending changes over time and accomplish nothing. It's just things for people to pretend to be offended about and feel like they did something with their life by changing it. It's all about "making history"

There are also far more important things going on than changing words to be "inclusive". But you didn't speak out against those. Gulf of America is about inclusivity.

Zero evidence?
Right it was not Trump who:
Repeated objectifying his own daughter is sexualized terms?
Has had to go to court fur dozens of credible sexual assault allegations that have gone to court?
Was found guilty of sexual assault by a jury that his attorneys helped choose?
Barged into dressing rooms at the Miss Teen USA pageant?
Please...
Also: the Steele Dossier has nothing to do with the Epstein Files or Trump's sexual predation. False equivalences do nothing but demonstrate that you are not, in fact, looking at this objectively.

Gulf of Mexico isn't being very inclusive though; it isolates and discriminates against other people in the North American continent. Gulf of America shows it is shared by all people on the American continent. You can't simultaneously argue that notice to air missions is about inclusivity while gulf of america is not.

Again, another great example of how conservatives would rather virtue signal than use accurate language. Not everyone who needs to follow NOTAMs is a man. People who care about accuracy valued the previous term. Sensitive right-wingers value their culture war term.

Unfortunately for the two party system of America the Democrat party has been hijacked by enemies from within our nation. The enemy from within have USED my fathers generation of the Democrat party, much like the 9/11 terrorists used our Americas openness and civil aviation as a weapon of mass destruction.

Present day Democrats are on the wrong side of history to be experiencing such angst and TDS by such a simple naming convention revision. It’s not as if any statues have been torn down or destroyed, or military bases were renamed Latifabiotch or anything. So TDSers it’s best to put things here in perspective. I’m just glad to see open and frank discussion again, something you won’t see on that pretty airline photo livery site.

At least the Biden admin managed to help Ukraine defend itself while making those changes, even though I personally think he should have done far more. What has Trump done? He keeps promising harsh action against Russia if they don't agree to a ceasefire, but Russia keeps bombing Ukraine and Trump throws tariffs on... INDIA??? Pulling security funding from the Baltics??? If Trump was actually, truly, legitimately a Russian agent, he wouldn't be doing anything different from what he's doing now.

"Her book" lol, you mean her private diary that a MAGA operative stole and then selectively published. I'm sure there's even more damning evidence on Hunter's laptop and the Epstein list if we could ever convince Republicans to release either one.

Tim, you have a sharp intellect and an impressive track record of thoughtful commentary on the airline industry. In structured environments like Seeking Alpha, your communication is clear, professional, and very effective. In more casual spaces such as OMaaT, though, your posting style sometimes comes across as unusually intense and repetitive. That can create misunderstandings, conflicts, and even bans, which I imagine must feel frustrating given the depth of knowledge you bring.

I share this with respect: it seems like your passion for your area of expertise can sometimes make it hard to pull back or see how others are reacting. That doesn’t take away from your strengths, but it can create barriers in community spaces. Exploring this with a professional could give you tools to channel your insights in ways that land better with others, so your expertise gets the appreciation it deserves without the same friction.

By notice of this "comment", we have MADE DELTA GREAT AGAIN! DELTA has made TERRIFIC changes, very patriotic. Gulf of America – MUCH better than that old name! Notice to Airmen – finally back to COMMON SENSE. Our GREAT pilots deserve the BEST “words.” DELTA IS WINNING! Nobody knows more about words than me – my uncle taught at MIT, very smart, “tremendous” brain - good genes – he predicted this would happen!

And by the way, I knew Arnold Palmer once, very impressive size, tremendous athlete – there’s no problem, believe me, everyone was amazed! The liberals are not happy, SAD! They do not like COMMON SENSE, they do not like FREEDOM in the skies, but we know who is on the right side of history. DELTA is leading the way, showing other companies how to put AMERICA FIRST. Tremendous work, everybody is talking about it! Thank you for your attention to this “matter”!

More than one thing can be true and that is the case now in spades:

- The Dems have been hijacked by reactionary naifs. But the party establishment is too old and complacent to speak for the youth and the idealists it has mooched off and depended on for decades.

- The GOP is fundamentally enacting policy that has been a cornerstone of the party agenda since the Southern Strategy, nothing new here. But they're doing it in a way that subverts law, erodes bipartisan norms, undermines the Constitution and puts us in dangerous new territory.

- Everyone is unhappy. We've become slaves to little plastic rectangles in the span of less than 15 years and it poisons anything and everything that happens to us or that we encounter on a daily basis. Oh wait, that's the sole case where only one thing is true.

Just reading today about how the DEPARTMENT OF WAR is gonna totally rehab our image as a nation, sick.

Also reading about how silly woke solar power and renewable energy is for cucks. Thank goodness we kicked it to the door so folks in rural areas can be unemployed again and China can eat our lunch in 20 years. I'm stoked.

Wow, what a surprise. A southern airline capitulating to a racist, sexist president. Color me shocked. Even more shocking is @Tim Dunn jumping to Delta's defense. I never expected to see either story appear on OMAT. Never. Not once.

Seriously, @Tim Dunn, if you were half the aviation expert you claim to be you would realize that Delta, like every business, is imperfect. There are things they do well and things they suck at. But, you'd rather gaslight everyone, attempting to bulldoze with half-truths and sometimes dubious analysis. You'd have more credibility on here if you were honest about Delta's shortcomings.

To be clear, the weirdo far lefties don't speak for the Democrat mainstream. They make up a tiny minority of electeds and a tiny minority of the party. What conservative and mainstream media in general have done is convince everyone that those weirdo far lefties are the voice of the party as a whole. And as long as that keeps giving ragebait headlines, it's going to keep happening because big media only cares about clicks.

Democrats are the party whose loudest people are the least influential and the most influential are the least effective.

Republicans are the party that convinced themselves that Democrats infiltrated Cracker Barrel in order to slightly change their logo to erase white people from history.

So basically the same.

The problem with NOTAMs is not so much if it’s for Airmen or Air Missions, it’s that they are a terrible scheme for issuing important advisories. There are plain too many of them and majority are useless fluff like, “birds in the vicinity of the airport”. Sure, that’s just what happens when the airport is next to a bird sanctuary. Meanwhile important things fall through the cracks because who has the mental power to read through 100 pages of these right before a flight?

Dumpf just makes things up, like all his stories about somebody coming up to him with tears in their eyes. It's very unlikely any air captain somehow got into direct communication with the dictator.

Maybe Delta pilots need an intelligence test to understand the definition of racism and why no one said it was racist to call it "notice to airmen." They did find it inaccurate since pilots are male AND female and have been since the early days of flight. Shocking, I know.

The current occupant frequently makes things up and says other people said them, but this quote doesn't sound like him...

It seems like some commenters could use a reminder of basic reasoning. The term "airmen" was never strictly male-exclusive. Historically, "man" has often referred to humankind, not just one gender. And beyond that, calling it racist doesn’t make sense—gender is not the same thing as race.

Racism references skin color, not gender. Calling it discrimination would at least prove you're not just using buzz words to invoke feelings to rile people up to the change. Let's also be realistic neither one is important and if you're that sensitive probably shouldn't be operating an aircraft that holds hundreds of people's lives in your hand.
