Good morning, and welcome to today's community discussion thread! Today's posts will appear here throughout the day, but this thread is for going off-topic. Did you love/hate something about today's coverage? Are you tracking other news I missed? Or, do you just have a general question about rewards travel? This is the place for your wandering thoughts.

Today's posts on OMAAT:

Ben, I'm sure you're probably gonna post on this as well, but I saw that Matthew shared Alaska's plans for lie-flat on 737max10. Really excited about that. Ever since I experienced carriers like SQ that already do lie-flat on their 737max, I've been a huge fan. Far better for 'premium' on redeyes and transcon 5+ hours flights.

They also dropped the Atmos changes too....you need to cover that...

still not sure if the partner ticketed and partner earn will be with the distance based...hope so....

also wish we could get the details confirmed by AS...this is beyond frustrating.

the communities are cool...if you are part of the global community...10% bonus...and you can get 1 sp per 25 points transfered into the program...not bad to get at least something.

Ben you wrote this on frequent miler a few months ago- just a reminder that I think this would be a super interesting article, would love to read your take on it!

There’s a good article that almost writes itself about how transferable currencies were never great *overall* towards hotel redemptions and have only gotten worse in the past year.

Hyatt going to 4:3 with Chase
Hyatt deval
Hilton devals nuking almost any potential for Amex transfers during a decent bonus
Choice devals combined with Citi nuking it to 1:1.5 from 1:2
Citi deval iPrefer from 1:4 to 1:2
Chase removing most 2cpp Edit Hotel redemptions
Probably other things I’m forgetting

There are some diamonds in the rough (Wells Fargo 1:2 to Choice, Bilt staying 1:1 with Hyatt) but it has gotten worse and worse, and it shocks me that when people ask me how they can book their 6 figure Amex/Citi/Cap1 balance with a hotel, my answer is generally “don’t bother”. You’d think some program would have cracked this code, although it may come down to how hotels are asset light models where they have to reimburse owners for award nights (albeit at lower-than-BAR amounts) vs FF programs having much more discretion in how much they deem an award costs.

Happy to write this or let y’all take it 😉

Maybe you already included it in one of your many Atmos articles, but debit card pre-registration is now open, and if you pre-register before October 31 you'll get a 20% discount code (it's got some restrictions but it could still be useful for some).

https://www.alaskaair.com/content/debit-card

For registrations received through Oct 31, 2026: Register your interest in the Atmos™ Rewards debit card by Oct. 31, 2026, and receive a discount code valid for 20% off eligible travel from Jan. 6 through Mar. 10, 2027. Purchase by Dec. 7, 2026. Restrictions apply; see here for full terms. Must provide a valid Atmos Rewards account number to be eligible. Limit one registration offer per valid Atmos Rewards account.
