These perks suck
Aside from the Omni benefits, which you can usually find elsewhere (Founders Card, etc.), you're right - this is completely on brand.
If you travel enough and are ok with AC food offerings the $695 pays for itself when you considered even a crappy fast food like airport meal will run you at last $30. Obviously, if your flying is business related your employer is going to reimburse you for meals. But some of us travel for fun so it's all out our pocket.
I love Omni hotels, but on our last visit they overcharged us by failing to properly account purchases towards a prepurchase food/beverage credit. I fortunately noticed the discrepancy when I reviewed my bill and had the receipts still to prove it. They also did not even show the credit on my bill; instead they increased the room rate for one night by the cost of the pre-purchased credit rather than show it as a sperate line item. They are not following standard accounting practices in their bills. The person at the hotel I spoke with was not surprised when I called, knew exactly what I was talking about, and had no problem issuing me a refund, making me wonder how many other guests they've fleeced this way? When I commented on this to Omni corporate I received a generic "sorry, we're looking into it" response, nothing that makes me feel like they really are apologetic or that would make me want to stay there again.
