Another Citi article. Alaska’s new credit cards coming shortly are much better.
@ Jacob -- Yes, I'm covering all the details of a newly launched card. And I look forward to writing about Alaska's new cards once they're officially released. 🙂
One big challenge with Priority Pass is its geographic footprint in the United States. And, often PP lounges that are available are actual airline lounges with time-of-day restrictions. In spite of this, some people get a great deal of use and value from PP. But, you're right, if a person has more than one premium travel card, one assigns zero incremental value to PP.
Capital One Venture X card also can be used directly to enter Priority Pass lounges.
Some articles appeal to some readers and not others. There are some readers who are interested in these particular articles. Are you suggesting that Ben not publish such articles because YOU don't want to read it? Are you suggesting that because YOU don't want to read it, no one else could possibly want to read it? Are you not able to skip such articles and only read those that interest YOU? You seem quite self-centered.
These daily sales pitch posts for the Strata card is getting a bit much...
i wouldnt rely on this "quirk". Make your life easier by just downloading the PP QR code into your iphone wallet. Especially overseas, i'm sure there could be confusion with staff trying to understand access should be automatically given by just showing the Citi Strata card.
One benefit of the Strata Elite's Priority Pass membership, it seems, is that it offers access to the card holder AND two guests. Since I travel with my wife and son, and since Capital One Venture X is cutting back on their Priority Pass access (from card holder + 2 guests to only the card holder), I may consider it instead. But question: if you get the Priority Pass digital card, does it say there that it's the CITI version, with access for +2?
I was thinking the same as others have mentioned. Overseas many PP lounge attendants know what the PP card looks like but would not know what the Citi credit card looks like and the related benefit, so I think having the actual PP card is better.
Signing up for a digital card doesn't work - I am caught in a loop where my payment card information cannot be verified.
Can you use the Citi Strata card from Google wallet or do they need to swipe the actual card?
OMG. I registered for the digital PP membership card, and they got my name wrong (they duplicated my surname as my middle name). So now I'm Jane Doe Doe on the PP card. Would that be a problem since all my boarding passes and ID will just say Jane Doe? The really stupid thing is, PP says they CANNOT FIX THE NAME for a benefit membership (I cannot do it online myself, greyed out), that the credit card bank/benefit issuer has to fix the name. But Citi Strata Elite has my correct name in their databases & has no access to PP databases & membership files, so obviously they cannot change the name & says PP must do it. It's circular hell.
tried the other day with venture x. they looked at me like I was crazy. Not PP card , no entry.
Alaska ruined their new card by omitting Priority Pass and limiting cardholder access to their own lounges.
