Review: Hyatt Centric Fort Lauderdale Las Olas

I stayed there a month ago. Had my iPad stolen by housekeeping and spent the morning with the police to track it down. I got I back and the hotel said they will stop using the service who was providing this housekeeping staff. I found the hotel overall nice, and like the location. Lots of shops and restaurants to walk to. But I found the service overall lackluster.

I was in Naples and Marco Island last week, and everywhere I went people were wearing masks. It was essentially no different than my home state. That may just be a eastern Florida (and Panhandle?) issue.

Still looking forward to the "Worst hotel list".

I was there in January and had an ok stay. But *after* check-out, they started adding BS charges to the folio. I’m WOH Explorist, but was charged $12 for my free water. Booked a Hyatt Privé rate, but was charged $10 for my free breakfast. Really annoying, and it will be my pleasure to never return.

I stayed here in December before staying at the Hyatt Centric Brickell.

Your review sums up this property perfectly. I liked this property more than the Centric Brickell, but I found the destination fee bogus. Also, like another commenter, I had strange charges appear after my stay.

I stayed there twice. There were definitely something to like about that property since it's a new built, trendy and close to many restaurants within the walking distance. The restaurant on site wasn't bad. Their shrimp fried rice was one of the best. Breakfast wise the menu wasn't bad either. The room is good if you can score a balcony room otherwise if you happen to face the pool (on my second time) you probably wouldn't bother to keep the blinds open since everyone can look inside.

I have also experienced some housekeeping issue, they have now enforced to provide service on third or fourth day but they do keep charging the resort fee.... Not sure if it's worth it since the list has been reduced ( never seen a Tesla on both times). The maid didn't even have towels to provide when she came by... I literally don't know what to say.

Again, got billing issue booking via Prive. The breakfast and FnB credit didn't apply so it's a little after chase when I got home. But they fixed that within a few days.

They also have Paleton bike in the gym. And the pool bar was open when I went there the last time probably depending on the occupancy.

It seems so cheap to say the bike rentals and beach chairs are based on availability. If they’re charging $23/day, I’d be livid if they couldn’t even provide a beach chair that costs them $10.

Well if the person is willing to take some risks, the booking confirmation stating the number of guests and the Bonvoy Ts&Cs would appear to support a dispute with the credit card company. I would probably go, enjoy the stay, and worry about disputing the charge after the fact.

I’m actually at this property now and I’m impressed! The best part for the are the bikes that you can checkout from the front desk. It makes the beach commute super easy.

You fled Miami but ended up in Fort Lauderdale? Does COVID not exist north of the Broward/Dade county line? When you said you were going to review hotels I assumed you’d be traveling to less populated / non-spring break destinations. Instead you’re still in the state that you consistently bash. Color me confused Lmao.

@Luckly do you recall how much was the champagne in the vending machine?

I now understand Hyatt Centric less than after reading the Brickell review. I thought I understood it.

But now I am confused. After seeing the champagne vending machine, a destination fee, and a tiny hotel room that looks like a Hilton Garden room with a Hampton Inn bathroom, and a great price of $120 a night, I have no clue what Hyatt Centric stands for, or where it stands.

Stayed there last month and I really liked it. Not loved, liked. For the area it's fine. Valet Parking is a bit messy (and no self park option) and the bar/restaurant is often packed. I actually checked out at the desk and was glad I did, someone put two meals and drinks on my room at the bar (including an airline employe discount, lol). The rooms are the best part of the property. Spacious, modern, and well equipped. And a nice balcony.

Was there early Feb, Lucky I guess you didnt spend any time by the pool. Had you you would have warned folks that those coming to get some sun better stay elsewhere. Reason due to the tall buildings surrounding the Hotels buildings there is a very small window when you can actually get any sun on you (which from a cancer pt of view is good).And not after Noon.

I couldn't tell from your description if you were east or west of Broward Blvd. but, either way, you were in my old stomping ground. (My house was through the tunnel in Rio Vista. My office was through the tunnel on Third Avenue.) I adore Las Olas Blvd. and it is always my preferred location when returning. I could spend days roaming up and down the avenue and my favorite hotel there is the privately-owned Riverside Hotel. You've made me homesick! Nice to know I'll have a Hyatt that's not on the beach to stay in next time I visit.

The most horrible experience of my life. I am really never thought that i was going to live that experience. I left the hotel, I lost my holidays and now they are going to put us a penalty of 191 dollars without staying even there.

Absolutely the best FTL location is Las Olas. Many great cafes and restaurants. The rate you got was 50% off most though. I prefer the Riverside Inn closeby and it's usually this price. It's THE downtown FTL historic hotel.
