The Chase 5/24 rule can block your application if you've opened five or more cards in 24 months, but it no longer seems consistently enforced. Here's how it works.

At least Chase’s ‘unofficial’ 5/24 rule is mostly consistent. Other issuers, oof, when you’re on their ‘bad side’ they hardly ever tell you the exact way to get on their ‘good side’ — I’m still guessing with C1. (0/12? 0/24? Who knows.)

Lots of DPs lately that it's now 3/24 for sole props for business cards as of last month.

I can confirm that 5/24 (or 3/24) has not been enforced on me recently - in fact the only issue I've run into with a Chase approval was total credit with them and other banks and velocity for a new business.

I have a few factors that could have contributed to 5/24 not being enforced:
1) 20+ years of personal and business (SP) history with Chase and over a dozen cards currently open (more that have been closed over the years).
2) All the new business cards approved while over 5/24 are for a new business, yes SP, but with an EIN.
3) Before opening those new business cards, I also opened several personal and business deposit accounts.
