I just got done watching Noel Philips' underwhelming experience on BA from London to Houston. This seems to be the least worth-it product, particularly when you factor in the UK's crazy new air taxes.
Noel was thoroughly on a downer on BA, and rightfully so for many reasons. With that said, he didn't have much of an issue with this flight it seemed. It's a pretty competitive way to cross the Atlantic.
In addition, the UK doesn't have mew crazy taxes I'm aware of. Just crazy taxes that have been around for ages, that creep up every year or two.
I know you're in jest but I have a practical tip. When returning to the US from abroad, fly a foreign airline if you can. In the EU for example, when you fly a foreign airline, you are not subject to invasive people at the ticketing counter asking you what do you do for a living and whether your wife still puts out. I don't know if the same situation applies from Asia, but apparently the "security" arrangements on EU to US flights are such that only US flagged carriers have contracts with those vendors asking stupid questions.
I was also so happy to once again visit Hong Kong, after not having really visited the city since before the pandemic.
That's great, Ben! It speaks highly of your character that you'd have such praise and excitement for a foreign city unconnected to your heritage. A lot of white people either refuse to or don't even think about HK/Asia at all because, you know, it's oriental.
In another life you'd be Asian. Why? Your unfailingly polite manners, your aversion to confrontation--penchant for the path of least resistance--and your ability to assume good faith in others, are all hallmarks of Asian social graces and it's why daily life there is less grumpy and less hate-filled than it is in much of the urban western hemisphere.
Ah, @Ben, but what did you fly to get home from LA? We'd love your review of Southwest.... 😉
Arps- I can tell you unequivocally that everything you just said is wrong. What an ignorant statement. Polite manners, aversion to confrontation, good faith, are all Asian traits?
Daily life there is no more or less convoluted than anywhere else. You should look in the mirror and be less grumpy and less hate-filled yourself before you generalize 1.5 billion people(that’s just in East Asia), or entire hemispheres.
To be honest if you watch Noel’s review again he seemed to have made up his mind about giving a negative review of BA before he even arrivied at the airport. All his experiences during that trip were actually positive from the lounge, the catering, the seat, the onboard customer service.
Bottom line, he was lamenting the BA of old (valid) and having a moan at the BAEC overhaul rather than that particular flight.
@ jallan -- Hah, I flew a JetBlue Mint redeye, LAX-FLL. Since I slept the entire way, I won't be reviewing it (other than the post I had about the subpar service).
I'd love to see how you'd react, Arps, if I generalized all "oriental" [sic] people based on what you just wrote.
You'd faint if you see what North Korea, CCP, Empire of Japan, Cambodia under Poll Pot regime, Indonesia under Suharto regime and countless more have done. All of the above are Asian, by the way/

Great, no wonder why literally half of Koreans are calling for a mass exile of Chinese in their country.
Or why Japan's "net right-wingers" are always regretting over the fact that their empire didn't completely ethnically cleanse out Chinese and Koreans.
Just another typical anti-white SJW.
Even as a someone with an Asian trait this is just a bullsh*t.
Ben, if you have to rank your top 10 most metropolitan cities in the world, where will you put HK on that list?
