The British Airways Club has just launched an award sale, whereby travelers can save up to 40% on the cost of award tickets. It’s not often we see British Airways offer discounts on award tickets, so this is cool, even if the lack of details puzzles me.

@Ben - I have some Avios expiring with Qatar Airways in December. I want to extend their expiration. Would buying miles with this promotion be the best way to do that?
What if I was to transfer Capital One miles to BA and then QR? Would that be qualifying activity to extend miles expiration for QR? Or do I need to purchase miles?
Or could I just transfer the avios from QR to BA and the expiration would automatically be extended?
Not sure if it is just part of the process of getting this set up, but frequent miler is reporting that flights to/from the US are showing increased fees for flights that are discounted in points
I tried booking business class NYC to London and Montreal to London using December dates that were flagged for the promotion. Both priced at 80,000 Avios per person in each direction plus $800. I checked a few dates in October with the exact same pricing. Those are the normal award prices from what I remember
"Only the Avios portion of the ticket will be discontinued" - little typo there, Ben, albeit a rather hilarious one...if only they'd discontinue all Avios portions of tickets 😉

Did you check TATL carrier surcharges? Frequent Miler said they are higher only during the promotional period. Seems very deceptive.
