Buying airline points strategically can make a lot of sense, especially for first and business class redemptions, where redeeming points represents a disproportionately good deal. British Airways Club has just launched a new bonus on purchased Avios, which is an opportunity to acquire Avios for as little as 1.64 cents (in USD) each.

No . Never worth it . Any dollar spent on an airline is a wasted dollar .

You can find someone who hates any and every airline. So you are not "odd".

I don't think you need to sweat on the particular BA sale. Most of the airlines in the "Avios eocsystem" have random similar sales throughout the year.
For the non-BA types here, you are can use your Avios for any OW redemptions. BA is simply a platform for you to do that.

If you want "odd", check out the Asiana site. Actually odd would be the kindest thing you could say about it.

If you have a near use and not enough Avios and can't transfer enough I'd buy 1/4 what I need, then use Balance Booster for the other 3/4 at a much lower cost.
If I didn't have a near term use I'd pass.

Is this promotion over? I don’t seem to have that extra 40% when trying to buy the points

BA "free" tickets cost more in fees than they do to just pay for the ticket for cash. Hard pass.
