It’s an awesome card. 3x rent up to $50K, 3.1x foreign with BofA/Merrill account. Easy to reach $60K. Only issue is Alaska devaluations. Hope it lasts!
Google "Alaska 1099 Error" and you will see all the issues with using these certificates. The CSR acknowledged it has been and ongoing issue for over 6 months but management hasn't provided any workaround. Told to just keep trying . We have tried multiple devices in multiple browsers, incognito mode, login from different continents and no flight books without the error.
The agent stated the flight would process completely with miles but management refuses to simply change the certificate for 25k miles so trip can be booked.
Of course they continue to advertise the certificate.
Ben, this is so timely. I am trying to spend towards the 100,000 certificate. However, how do you track your spending? There must be a tracker but neither Atmos CSR or BofA CSR knew how to track other than taking your statements and adding them all up. Is there a tracker somewhere on spend towards $60,000? Thanks very much.
Yes, it's 3.3x on all foreign purchases and domestic restaurants if you have a BOA or Merrill account.
Yes! I'm experiencing the same issue for the 100K certificate. It's completely unusable, even on Alaska flights. Anyone planning on spending $60K to get the certificate is in for a nasty surprise. Customer service won't do anything to help, says it's out of their control. SCAM!
I only wish there was a solo traveler option in lieu of a companion pass. I rarely travel with others even if we're going to the same destination. Love my friends but they are so bad at planning. they often wait until a week before our trip to book a flight!! and then they complain about the price. They keep thinking because of some amazing luck I always get to fly business. And when I tell them to use points their eyes glaze over and immediately say too much work. Apparently, applying for a cc is a lot of work. So to preserve my own sanity I don't fly with them.

They already have single traveler milestone awards -- I got a total of 15,000 miles combining my 30k and 55k choices. Those rewards are much less "rich" than the companion certs but that's because the certs expire and have a huge amount of breakage. If they were simply going to award points instead they'd have to do it in much smaller amounts -- maybe 5 and 15 K instead of 25 and 100 K -- to maintain the same cost
Actually earned my 100K award recently. Phew! So, the ~$50K via BILT and ~$10K via other spend actually worked out, so far. (Now, if only there was some better partner F/J award availability... bring back those sweet JX deals!)
I never pursue big spend bonuses (not enough organic spend, and never got into MS) so I was quite surprised when I logged into BOA (to handle a fraudulent charge) to see I was only $270 away from hitting the 100,000 point cert with three weeks left. Pending charges have since put me over.
I have the card for 3x foreign earning and the status point lift on spend but for the 100K cert I'd seriously filling out the missing spend with tax payments.
And, since BofA is usually generous with points-earning for tax payments (other issuers aren't always... see BILT), that's a winner!
Is it possible to book one business and one economy on the same purchase and use the companion certificate ?

Wow, I forgot about this. When I long into Atmos it only shows 3 "rewards" at a time and I had to scroll to page 2 to see this one.

Where do you see this? Just spent 10 minutes on the app looking. B of A site is horrible.
I saw it on the website as soon as I accessed the page for my Summit card account. Right at the top. On the app, it's on the same page, but I have to scroll way down past transactions and offers.
In both systems it's a horizontal bar labeled Annual Bonus, with the green portion showing progress.
The 3x foreign spend is amazing.....
So,If I have the card & so does my wife, can we use the 25K for each other's Bookings?
Haven’t tried combining, but pretty sure Alaska Airlines allows only one Global Companion Award per booking. So, if you each have a 25K certificate, then just book two separate, one-way itineraries for the two of you, instead of a roundtrip; that way you can use both.
I wish they had an alternate award for us single people. I will probably never use the companion certs. But as someone who currently resides in Mexico, I’m absolutely loving the 3X points for foreign transactions.
