In 2024, we saw the opening of a stunning new terminal at Portland International Airport (PDX). I haven’t been yet, but it truly looks like the most impressive terminal in the country. The one thing missing at the time was a new Alaska Lounge, to add capacity, and reflect the carrier’s new design concept. So…

Generally not a fan of mezzanine-level lounges that are open air in the terminal, but I think it will work well aesthetically given how stunning the terminal structure is. There just need to be focused climate control and sound-dampening elements.

The old lounge was a glorified closet, on par with an outstation lounge, so this will be a huge upgrade. I'm guessing the overflow express lounge by the B gates will close?

That is nice! Ok, so, now gotta build-in a layover at PDX on AS to use the Atmos Summit passes… (hope they do something for the new terminal at JFK, too…)

Does this glut of Alaska news mean we're finally going to get the earnings choice update?

Unless you need the 5pts/dollar option and you are booking cash Biz tickets, wouldnt a delay benefit?
I've used multiple times the 500pts minimum, as well as of course 1 to 1 long haul earning this year.

Agreed with the open-air comment. For example, one reason I think The Pier lounge in HKG is so beloved is specifically because it has relatively low ceilings, making it feel quiet and calming.

Here now and its stunning, incredible upgrade from the one I went to growing up here. Food is actually biz-class level easily, barista-made coffee, great views of the runway and taxiways.
