British Airways flight attendant shows up to work on meth

It has been revealed that a 41-year-old British Airways flight attendant was found naked in an onboard lavatory while under the influence of drugs. Specifically, he was supposed to work a flight from California to London, when he started to become agitated, sweating profusely and babbling.

The onboard manager ended up standing him down because he didn’t help with any pre-flight safety checks. Despite that, he still continued on the flight (which… that raises its own questions). Once inflight, he complained of cramps and said he had to change his clothes, and at that point, he locked himself in one of the lavatories, where he was later found naked and oblivious to what was going on.

He had dilated pupils, a high heart rate, and had to be checked on every 20 minutes until landing. Upon arrival, paramedics took him to a nearby hospital. A blood test later revealed that he had methamphetamine and amphetamines in his system.

As you’d expect, he ended up being fired, but that’s the least of his issues now. He has now pleaded guilty to performing an aviation function while impaired by drugs. He’s expected to be sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court.

Coincidentally, the flight attendant involved in the incident appeared in one of British Airways’ recent safety videos (the “May we haveth one’s attention” one). While the flight attendant’s name has been released, personally I prefer not adding that kind of information to posts, since I hope he gets the help he needs and can turn his life around.

Was this the second time such an incident happened, or?

Here’s what makes this situation even stranger. In late May 2025, there was a British Airways flight attendant on a flight from San Francisco (SFO) to London (LHR) who was arrested upon landing for reportedly dancing naked in the business class cabin while on drugs.

It’s not entirely clear if the flight attendant involved in this incident was the same person in the previously reported incident.

On the one hand, you’d think so, since how many poorly behaved flight attendants can there be on flights between California and London? On the other hand, the details don’t fully match, including the timeline, drugs used, etc.

Regardless, I hope this flight attendant gets the help he needs. I also hope British Airways reviews its procedures for how situations like this should be managed. If the guy was already acting erratically before passengers even started boarding, maybe he should’ve been fully offloaded?

Aviation regulations require airlines to deny boarding to passengers who appear to be under the influence, so you’d hope the same would apply to flight attendants…
