The World of Hyatt Credit Card is one of the most lucrative hotel credit cards out there, and it is a favorite of mine.

World of Hyatt Card bonus offer details

The World of Hyatt Credit Card currently has a welcome offer marketed as offering up to 60,000 World of Hyatt bonus points; in reality, I’d consider the maximum incremental bonus here to be 45,000 points. Specifically:

  • Earn 30,000 World of Hyatt bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first three months
  • Earn an additional one bonus point per dollar on purchases that earn one point per dollar, on up to $15,000 spent in the first six months

In other words, if you spent $15,000 on the card within the first six months, you could be earning up to an incremental 45,000 World of Hyatt bonus points, in addition to the points you ordinarily earn from spending. While this isn’t the most exciting welcome offer on earth, it’s better than the previous bonus, and this is ultimately a card you get because of the value that it offers in the long run

World of Hyatt Card eligibility requirements

If you’re interested in applying for the World of Hyatt Credit Card, the typical Chase credit card application restrictions apply.

Fortunately beyond that, the rules are pretty simple. You’re not eligible for the bonus on the card if you currently have this card, or if you’ve received a new cardmember bonus on the card in the past 24 months. Eligibility for this card is unrelated to whether you have the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card (review), which is the business version of the card, and which has an excellent bonus as well.

Why the World of Hyatt Card is worth it

The World of Hyatt Credit Card has a $95 annual fee, and offers a variety of perks that could make it worthwhile:

  • The card offers World of Hyatt Discoverist status for as long as you’re a cardmember
  • The card offers five elite nights toward status annually just for having the card, with no spending requirement
  • The card offers two elite nights toward status for every $5,000 spent on the card, so spending on the card can help you earn World of Hyatt Globalist status and can count toward Milestone Rewards
  • The card offers a Category 1-4 free night award on the account anniversary every year
  • The card offers a second Category 1-4 free night award when you spend $15,000 on the card in a calendar year
  • The card offers 4x points on Hyatt spending, and 2x points on dining at restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from airlines, on fitness club and gym memberships, and on local transit and commuting, including ridesharing services

If you ask me, there’s merit to spending $15,000 on this card per year, as that’s very much a sweet spot. This way you earn an incremental six elite nights toward status (in addition to the five you get just for having the card), plus a second Category 1-4 free night award (in addition to the anniversary one you usually get).

Best of all, if you’re already spending money on the card to earn the welcome bonus, you’re getting a head start toward those elite nights.

Bottom line

The World of Hyatt Credit Card has a solid welcome bonus that lets you incrementally earn up to 45,000 bonus points.

Furthermore, this card isn’t even about the bonus. Rather, you want to get the card because of the value it offers in the long run, as this card can earn you free night awards and help you earn status.

This is a card I’ve had for years and one that I spend at least $15,000 on annually. If you stay at Hyatts with any frequency, then having this card should be a no-brainer. If nothing else, getting an anniversary free night award just for paying a $95 annual fee is a great deal.

Anyone plan to pick up the World of Hyatt Credit Card with the current bonus?

I wonder if the 5 FNCs are like the others where they can then be gifted to another member?

Doe this have a published end date? The card has been on my radar for awhile and I was waiting for a big bonus but I'm out of the country at the moment

The nice thing about this one is that when you’re approved, you can add the card to your Apple/Google Wallet right away from the app, no need to wait for the physical card. Just make sure to use a VPN or roaming on your US cell plan to apply, they don’t like when the applications come from a foreign IP.

Not a fan of “free night(s)” bonuses when it’s not unrestricted. Takes away the flexibility that point bonuses provides. They get more breakage by offering free nights rather than points.

@ Golfingboy -- Of course I agree with you, and literally everyone would prefer an offer of 90K points. But this card has never offered a bonus that big, because the ongoing value proposition of the card is so good. You're right that offers like this are intended to create some amount of breakage, but that's also why the offer potentially offers way more value than the previous version (which offered up to 45K incremental points).

Had to use my Cat 4 award at Fresno Hyatt House, nothing else around for hundreds of miles. Merced is no longer Hyatt. what a waste. Room was okay, But Breakfast was awful!

    1. Oh no Fresno! Guest

Agree with you 100%. Last month I ended up there also, had to use the Cat 4 cert. Awful, awful Breakfast, looked like The scrambled eggs were not Real, Potatoes were pre cooked and then re-heated, just a bunch of clinics & urgent cares around and a Big Hopital right across. This place is Good only If you are sick or visiting someone that is sick. Fresno is a God awful Place. I also missed the Hotel in Merced.

The Thompson DC is going to see a lot of occupancy from this.

I generally agree with the consensus in the comments that this is inferior to a straight points offering. Hyatt's free night awards expire quite quickly (generally six months), and the category restrictions severely limit the usefulness.

I actually do stay in category 2 and 3 properties somewhat frequently, but I'd rather have the flexibility of the ~50K points this card used to offer rather than five cat 1-4 nights. I don't view this as a "best ever" offer.

  7. Andrew Diamond

Oh cool. I can use that in ::checks notes:: Hyatt Place properties, and not even the ones in NYC / SF. Hyatt's category devaluation practice is vividly shown here.

Remember the 2014 Hyatt Visa offers? 2 nights at any Hyatt hotel. (I used mine at PH Sydney.)

Now, it's 5 nights in the burbs. Oh well.

  8. Jojo Guest

Nah. Pass. Id rather have the points. Not rubber FNCs property owners don’t want to open availability to actually use them. And besides, the places I want to stay are all at least cat 5 or Residences.

  9. Mark Guest

Can you stay a category 8 property by combining 2 category certificates?

    1. Mark Christopher Guest

I'm sure you probably can figure this out.

    2. betterbub Diamond

Why stop there? Redeem the 5 nights for a category 20 property on Mars

  10. Powerball Winner Guest

The regular 60K point offer can get you 7-12 nights easy.

  11. Chris Guest

This offer is honestly terrible. Most Regency's/Centrics are all category 5+ these days.

    1. Mark Christopher Guest

What a great offer for those of us that leave the country and travel abroad.

    2. Pam Guest

Hyatt frequently hears from their lp members to increase the Cat level on the usual card FNCs, they are difficult to get real value from. So they double down instead & make the same Cats their SUB? Time for mgt to finally listen after several years of complaints as the use of these isn’t going to endear many to the program or motivate spend in the card (for a 5-nt HP/HH stay).

  12. Manny Guest

With a category 1-4 restriction what is this worth ? A max of 90K points. Is that really worth applying for this card ? Also factor in the fact that this takes up one of the 5/24 slots (unless i am wrong).

  13. Joe Guest

Not stating in the headline that it's cat 1-4 (or some limitation) is a fail.

The fact that it's cat 1-4 makes this garbage like the Amex Bonvoy offers for multiple nights with caps on the nightly points -- excluding any "aspirational" places that are often touted here or places where someone would actually want to stay in.

  14. Jenny Guest

I'd argue that the previous bonus of 2 free nights that wasn't limited to category 4 was better than this 5 free nights bonus. It was so nice to spend a weekend at Miraval...

    1. Ben Schlappig OMAAT

@ Jenny -- Sorry, maybe I missed something, but when did this card offer a bonus of two free nights with no category restrictions?

    2. Darin Guest

It's been maybe 10 years ago? I had the card and used the 2 free nights @ the Park Hyatt Sydney Opera house back then.

    3. Alison Guest

Yup we did 2 free nights at PH Paris and 2 free nights at PH Milan ( husband’s card). That was a good offer. 2 free nights any Hyatt in the world.

    4. Jenny Guest

This was back in 2017 so it's been a long time

    5. JoePro Guest

      Aha! A trick question!

Technically true that the WOH Visa Card never offered a bonus of 2 free nights with no restriction. But commenters are obviously referring to the Hyatt Visa card that preceeded the WOH card. And I too took advantage of that one back in the day.

    6. Pam Guest

It was good for 60k points which back then could get you into any property, including Miraval

  15. Paul Weiss Guest

Uhoh...are the headlines on this blog going the way of View From The Wing (offensive-to-reader-intelligence dramatization and inaccuracy)?

The free nights are limited to Category 4 hotels of which none exist in Manhattan and other areas that people actually want to go.

    1. Dusty Guest

Just looking at the Hyatt category map, there's plenty of cat4 or lower options in touristy places. Sure there's nothing in Manhattan, but that's more a case of Manhattan not allowing any new hotels, making existing rooms hot commodities. There's cat4s in global cities all over Asia, tourist destinations in Europe, ski resorts in the US west, and most other US major/tourist cities like Chicago, Philly, SF, Savannah, Charleston, the list goes on.

      Yeah it...

Yeah it sucks you can't use it for any aspirational properties, but 5 free nights in a cat4 is hardly a bad deal.

    2. GooeyJoey Guest

What and where are these mythical Hyatt ski resort properties that are Cat 4 and Lower? U must mean a Hyatt place that is 5 miles away (likely more) from the slopes. lol.

    3. Dusty Guest

No, I was thinking of the Keystone/Dillon HP, which is cat 4 and physically in the base village of Keystone mountain. Park City HP is half a mile from the base lift. There's options if that's what you want to do, and CPP during ski season would be great value.

    4. Retired Gambler Guest

Get over yourself Paul. There are plenty of places in the country people want to go that have category 4 and even, God forbid, category 1 Hyatt properties.
