I have ditched all my cards except ; AmEx Platinum, Citi Prestige, Chase Sapphire Reserve and Chase Ink Business Plus and Amex Business Platinum. Which cards should I be using for what charges. I have been using my points for travel and have covered the 3 alliances. I want to maximize my point earnings.

The Amex Platinum offers 5x points on air fare purchased directly from the airlines and 2x on travel when booking via the Amex Travel portal.

The Citi Prestige offers 3x on air travel and hotels plus 2x on dining and entertainment.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve offers 3x on travel and dining.

I’d probably put airfare on the Amex Platinum and everything else on the CSR but it also depends on which rewards points you consider more valuable to you.

Just one small add on, the business plat offers 1.5 points for charges over $5000 so unless they fall into the categories that @David W mentions above, large purchsases should go on that card.
