Using Uber Abroad

Using Uber Abroad

  1. Anonymous Guest

I’m wondering about using Uber in India. I won’t have an international plan for my phone. But I do have an old phone that I’ll buy s SIM card for. Will this be sufficient to book Uber rides?

Yep! As long as you have a data connection it should be fine. Some drivers will want to call, but for the most part it gets worked out. I don’t have personal experience with India though.

If you want, you could link the Uber account to a Google Voice number so that if you have a data connection, calls to that number will get thru, since it goes over data.

It is recommended to update your phone number in the Uber account. I was using my uber account in India and the driver said he could not call me. That is when I realized the number is a US number. If they cancel the ride as they are unable to call an international number, I do not think it is the driver’s fault.
