MP multi leg redemptions costing

MP multi leg redemptions costing

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Ben,

United’s Mileage Plus rules state the redemption cost is between origin and destination airports yet when using a multi leg routing each leg is now costing as a separate redemption. This was not the case prior to the “excursionist” update. So a F booking for Fra-Hnd-Bkk-Syd shows a cost of 225K miles rather than 115K ( and all transits are under 24hrs).
Have I misread the rules or is this a computer glitch?
    Regards

    Peter

In general, you don’t want to use the multi-city tool unless you’re using the Excursionist Perk. Otherwise you’ll want to use the advanced search to force the connections in order to avoid additive pricing.

I will also say that that is a tough routing for the UA computers, because four MileagePlus zones are involved (Japan is a separate region). I wouldn’t be surprised if that never prices properly.
