Changing AA award with date/carrier after devaluation?

Changing AA award with date/carrier after devaluation?

  1. Anonymous Guest

Hello I have a trip in May of 2017 from BKK to PHL. I was planning on booking a 2 award flight on QR in J for 97.5 K before the March devaluation of a random date and then changing it later on to my desired date since thats free so I don’t have to pay the mileage upcharge. My question is since its 2 awards will they let me do this for the same miles pre- deval and would I have the flexibilty to switch it to CX since the origin and destination are the same for the 55K miles or even F for 67.5K later this year since the initial booking is pre deval?

Hi Dave301, unfortunately that wouldn’t work, as tickets are only valid for one year from date of issue.

I’m also pretty sure you’d have issues going from two awards to one, but an agent willing to apply “logic” might be able to get it repriced for you. The issue date is the big thing though.
