American Airlines Baselessly Forces Busty Woman To Cover Up

43

An American Airlines passenger is expressing frustration online, after reportedly being forced to cover up due to her outfit. Is she right to be annoyed, or did she cross the line? Thanks to View from the Wing for flagging this — usually I steer clear of this kind of stuff, but I think it’s worth calling out airlines for enforcing non-existent rules.

American employee forces passenger to button up shirt

A mother and sports commentator (or something) who is an AAdvantage Platinum member took to Twitter/X to express frustration over a situation she dealt with on an American flight on Sunday, August 31, 2025. According to her version of events, she was told she needed to button up her shirt prior to boarding her flight. She claims that she was “unaware that American Airlines had a dress code that said you can’t wear athletic attire if you have big boobs.”

She suggests that a flight attendant made the request, though if it was in fact before boarding, odds are that it was actually a gate agent. She claims that other people who are a different color than her weren’t forced to cover up. So I guess she’s saying that Black passengers received preferential treatment? That’s ummm… an unusual direction to go.

Was this passenger violating American’s dress code?

Reasonable people can disagree about what the dress code on a plane should be. However, American’s official dress code is very simple and short:

“Dress appropriately; bare feet or offensive clothing aren’t allowed.”

This woman didn’t have bare feet. She wasn’t dressed “inappropriately,” without further clarification of what that means. And I don’t think anyone would consider her clothing to be “offensive.”

That dress code is from American’s contract of carriage, which is supposed to be a detailed explanation of passenger obligations. Even internally, there’s not a more detailed explanation as to what kind of clothing is considered inappropriate.

American seems to have a problem with dress codes every so often, seemingly more so than other airlines (or at least we hear about it more often). When it comes to conversations about these incidents, I think people often take the wrong approach. Some people will say “well people should dress up to fly, and I would never dress that way when flying.”

While I’m not a woman, I probably wouldn’t dress that way either. But I also don’t dictate how other people should dress, and for that matter, having to “dress up” is in no way reflected in American’s dress code.

If American wants to have a dress code that dictates what people should wear, I’d be fine with that. But I take an issue with the airline arbitrarily having frontline employees decide what is and isn’t inappropriate, without a more clearly published policy.

There’s also simply no denying that these rules seem to almost exclusively be applied to curvier people, and perhaps that reflects some biases held by the people who choose to arbitrarily demand that others cover up.

Now, to balance this all out a bit, let me acknowledge that we’re taking this woman’s claims at face value. I have no reason to believe that she’s lying, but I also haven’t seen this corroborated by any third party.

It’s worth at least acknowledging that this woman seems to make a living online based on her appearance, providing sports commentary, or something. She has a YouTube channel where she refers to herself as “insanely sexy,” a “Playmate,” and a “bombshell.”

I imagine that drawing attention to her appearance is good for business. That’s not to say that she’s making any of this up, but I do think the financial motive here is at least worth acknowledging. In other words, it’s not a situation where it’s like “oh, I’m risking my reputation to come forward about this.”

Bottom line

An American Airlines passenger is angry after being told she had to cover up prior to boarding a flight. The issue here is that the American employee seemingly enforced a non-existent dress code. American simply requires that passengers “dress appropriately,” without defining that further, and states that passengers must not have “bare feet or offensive clothing.”

Would I be fine with an airline banning dress like this? Sure. But I’m not fine with the airline arbitrarily deciding that some clothing is inappropriate or offensive based on undefined paramters.

What do you make of this “inappropriate” clothing situation?

If people are attractive I think revealing clothing is perfectly acceptable. The need for conservative clothing goes up exponentially the more unattractive one is. Standard hygiene rules apply to all, of course.

Clickbait. Sorry, their plane their rules.

Has nobody noticed the real subject of the woman’s selfie? …. Surely it has to be the Walmart tart dressed in the tissue paper thin white outfit behind her?
The front view must definitely be something to avoid or cover up if her hair is anything to go by.

The days of dressing up for a First Class flight are long gone; lost to history.

A few years ago to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary we went to a wonderful elegant hilltop town in Umbria. The hotel and its restaurant were storybook amazing. We dressed for our dinner, formal and befitting the effort put forth by the hotel and restaurant. A magical evening for us!

Then I looked around at other people who were dressed in jeans and T-shirts. Awful!

Worse now are the airlines. There is no dress code! Yoga pants and a T-shirt, welcome to First Class!

There is no will from the airlines to have dress code. Wear what you want. That’s the sad reality of today’s traveler.

Why can't we all STFU ( this includes airline/airport staff as well as pax) ? Mind our own 'bidness' for the greater good of arriving at our destination in one piece IN peace !

Alternatively, we could add a 'Morality Police' to the TSA protocols. Once they 'approve' of conduct/attire, pax are good to go and there's no appeal from either pax or airline. Maybe even have a 'burka' style uni-sex garment available for those...

“So I guess she’s saying that Black passengers received preferential treatment? That’s ummm… an unusual direction to go.”

In the 1800s, lighter toned black people sometimes tried to pass as white, with serious repercussions if discovered.

In the 2000s, darker toned white people sometimes try to pass as black, with serious repercussions if discovered.

Ain’t nobody trying to sneak their way into lower “privilege”. So there you go. Not an unusual direction at all.

I don't see anything wrong with her attire. Midriff is fine and she's nowhere near the point of flashing people. People wear comfortable clothes because they want to be comfortable, especially when they're on what has become a very UNcomfortable form of travel.

And just to call out all the "RETVRN" types yearning for the glory days of flying when people dressed up, be the change you want to see. Why shouldn't women wear yoga...

Now that I reread this, she may be trying to say "different color outfits" rather than skin color - not the best English; I can see the confusion. One of her 'reels' has a black guy on bed (BF?)..so that wouldn't quite align w/ racist narrative as well. On the outfit; I think the picture she posted is with the "cover up shirt" so I can see how some gate agents may find her top not quite covering her massive... just check out her X-account.

  11. Nevsky Gold

And all men should be required to wear shirts with ties and not allowed to take off their jackets until seated on the plane. It was once like that at least unofficially.

Yeah and they also didn’t cram us into planes like sardines.

This is, as I expected, an attempt to get free marketing to direct traffic to her onlyfans. A simple google found me this - https://iframe.thesun.co.uk/news/22423586/lost-my-job-boobs-self-made-millionaire/

Have to agree with you on the whole Free Marketing "attempt." She's driving clicks to her SEC website because of her "in depth knowledge of NCAA Football" and the season just started... sarcasm emphasized...

Too bad AA and Ben got drawn into this complete BS non-issue. I wouldn't be surprised if she had someone "complain" about her to gate agents to get this reaction and ensuing twitter woe is me post with a side of racism...

What is wrong with all of you?
But honestly, in current climate, I'm not surprised at all.

Has everyone, including Ben became racists?

Am I the only one who reads

What they should’ve had her do was cover up the area from the top of her shoes to her knees; it looks like she was trying to use her socks to channel the leg warmers from that awful “Cats” musical.

THAT part of her outfit is a crime against humanity.

The airlines all baselessly forced people to cover their faces for more than two years, and you didn't have a problem with that.

I aporeciate seeing the women's bathroom, but she should not film or take photos in there. That's a no no.

Better view of the outfit with her other pic on Twitter. We also don’t have both sides - maybe she wasn’t even wearing the cover shirt at all.

Pretty racist and disgusting to claim her racism callout was unusual, strictly based on the color of her skin.

I agree, if it was the other way around, Ben would be calling out American Airlines for racism.

    2. Moe Guest

It is the current reality pretty often. I and my wife were treated badly at a lounge of an airline based at JFK T-4 while those with color were treated better.

I'm glad she points out other color women weren't treated similarly, racism does need to be called out. I would also love to sit next to this woman.

She should be embarrassed that she's dressed like a ratchet from the ghetto. No self-respecting female would travel dresses like that.

Flying used to be fun. Seats were comfortable, food was great, flight attendants legitimacy loved their job and always had a smile, and passengers were dressed up in suits.

Now, flying seems to be a chore dealing with obnoxious people around you.

Yes, but... I recently went through a box of old pictures and found a ticket stub from a trip in 1978 on Braniff in F, MEM-JFK, then a return leg on Delta in F, JFK-ATL-MEM. The cost: $275. Probably seemed like a large cost then (when I was a college student), but now I can only laugh. And the Braniff in those days served their food on fine china. Aah, memory lane...
