Early this year I Book United Airline first class to China Beijing are use United mileage plus but by June this year call me change new aircraft no more first class only have business class same thing last year I fly from San Francisco to Shanghai China they change new aircraft no more first class last year I put return flight from Taiwan back to San Francisco coach class but they reimburse me upgrade my fry from coach to first class for free and also give me a 10,000 mile back to United Airline accounts. This year I book a return flight from Taiwan back to San Francisco coach class I asked United airline agent
Can I get reimbursed different from first class to business class but I try they don’t give me any reimbursed or free upgrade?can you give me any advice how can I get better way to do

Just want to make sure I understand this correctly: You had a flight to PEK which was downgraded from F to J because of an equipment change. Now you’d like get a R/T ticket from TPE to SFO upgraded from coach to J for compensation?

Here’s my interpretation: last year SFO-PEK was in F but downgraded to J due to equipment change. The return had been TPE-SFO in coach but due to the equipment swap they upgraded that return leg to J.

This year, the same equipment swap happened on the outbound so Hsie asked for the same compensation as last time but was denied.

(If that’s not correct, please let us know.)

At a minimum they should be refunding the difference in miles for a flight in F vs. a flight in J. What they did last year as a courtesy was great but they are under no obligation to do so. Hopefully you can find a business class award seat on your return leg and apply those refunded miles to grab it.
