I was checking prices for YVR to SFO for 3/22 and it priced at 12.5k plus $~120 in taxes for both Air Can or United/United Express flights. Yet when I looked a week or even further out than 3/22, the same flights are only $~40 in taxes. Is it correct that it changes like that? What is that based on? Thanks!

You are being charged a close-in booking fee. Almost all the airlines have it in some form… typically $75ish
