Strategy at 4/24

Strategy at 4/24

I am currently at 4/24 and looking for my best strategy on a few cards I want. Here are the 3 I want to pick up.

Chase Ink Business Preferred

United Explorer Card

Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select
Since the business card doesn’t count toward 5/24 does that mean I would still be at 4/24 after applying? If so, I could then get the United card and then the Citi AA card, right? Please let me know if I am understanding that correctly.

You’d still be at 4/24 if you apply and get approved for the Chase Ink Business Preferred card. Get that first. Getting either of the other two would put you at 5/24 and you wouldnt normally be approved for the Chase Ink card.

If you want AA miles, also consider the Barclays AAviator card if you dont have it. 50k bonus after one purchase and paying the annual fee is fantastic.

Thanks for the feedback. I got the AAviator card when it had the 60K bonus but otherwise don’t have much use for the card. I would cancel that once I got the Citi AAdvantage Platinum.

One other question… if I add an authorized user would that person also be able to apply for the same card and receive the bonus offer?

Yes, they can. Being an AU on someones account doesnt disqualify them from being able to receive the bonus if they were to apply for their own card.

Well, I applied for the Ink Preferred last night and did not get an automatic approval. They are reviewing the request and will let me know in the next 30 days. Anything more I should do at this point?

  6. David W Community Ambassador

    Nope, I suggest just waiting.

Update: I got approved and received my card a couple days ago.
