I have a BA partner reservation for four people. Two of our family members have a schedule problem and I need to remove them from the PNR. Last time I split a BA reservation, I was later informed (after the fact, no less) that they couldn’t actually remove passengers from the PNR, gave me half the Avios back and forced me to forfeit my companion certificate used on the rservation, so I’m getting cold feet about calling to split the current res. I’m also getting cold feet because it’s a J class JAL redemption from JFK to NRT and I fear that if I cancel the whole reservation to then rebook only two of the tickets, that the space will be lost. How would you go about this? Every time I say something to a BA agent I feel lost in translation.
@ Jake — Hmmm, I’ve been able to split BA reservations without issue, so I think it should be possible. I think maybe on the last ticket the issue was that you had a companion certificate, which complicates things? I’d try calling and asking them to split the record without actually canceling the other passengers yet. If they can split the record first then you should know whether it’ll be possible or not.
