Office Depot/Office Max-buying gift cards
Was at my local Office Depot wanting to buy a Nordstrom gift card that had a choice to load $25-500 on it. Cashier told me since a couple of days ago they were told any gift card that had dollar ranges can’t be rung up using a CC anymore. Also, anyone buying $2k or more of gift cards had to now fill out additional paperwork.
Not a major inconvenience but of course I wanted to use my Chase CC to get points, so I had to pick a different merchant because they didn’t have a Nordstrom card for the specific denomination I wanted. Anyone else experience this lately or is it just at this store?
Yup it is happening more and more recently! The gas station near my house has the same policy. The Lowe’s requires manager approval, you just have to show your driver license. It is interesting because it is just individual store policies. To my knowledge, it isn’t like the registers can’t process the transactions. So sometimes you’ll get a rogue cashier who doesn’t care and let’s it slide too.
