Help with optimizing Chase cards for family

Help with optimizing Chase cards for family

Hello! First time reader and beginner in terms of miles and points earner. I am hoping that someone could help provide insight into the best method of optimizing earning potential for Chase accounts for both myself and my husband.

To quickly summarize, we would prefer to stay within the Chase family of cards for now. I have a Chase Freedom card (since approx 2006) and CSR (opened 12/2016). I appointed my husband as an AU of the Freedom card to build his credit initially. He opened the CSP card 6/2016 and made me an AU at that time.

If my husband were to apply for his own CSR card, would he be eligible to receive the bonus points at this time? If so, my understanding after reading through some posts would be to downgrade his CSP to the Freedom Unlimited first prior to applying for the CSR. Prior to this, we could also transfer his UR balance to my CSR account.

If he is not yet eligible to obtain the CSR bonus offer or if he is never eligible because he already received the CSP offer, would it make more sense to downgrade his CSP to the freedom unlimited anyway (saving the $99 annual fee). I could then make him an AU of my CSR account so that he could have his own priority pass. We would then pay the $75 AU fee annually until he could apply for his own CSR account (if still eligible for bonus).

Some additional questions: if he were to become an AU on my CSR and thereby have a reserve account card in his name (same account number), would that mean he would never be eligible to receive the bonus offers if he opened a CSR in his own name? I was planning on just appointing myself as an AU of his future freedom unlimited account (after downgrade). Does it make more sense for me to apply for my own Freedom Unlimited card regardless of what option we choose for him?

Sorry for the long lost and multiple questions. I appreciate your help and advice greatly!
